Manny_Pacquiao
I have always wondered which of these 2 had a bigger contribution to MI's success. MI is the IPL's most successful franchise, and these 2 have been permanent fixtures in MI lineups over the years. I voted malinga for IPL's greatest ever player, --> https://www.indiancricketfans.com/forums/topic/118563-ipls-greatest-foreign-player/ because he's IPL's leading wicket-taker. But pollard's all-round ability gave the team a balance that many other lineups didn't have. Is he underrated? So the question is: even if malinga was the better player, was pollard more valuable? Ankit_sharma03
OBV malinga not only as a bowler but a guide to bumrah Pollard on the other hand has been crucial in leadership group which is MI hasnt let him go Link to comment

If you take out Malinga, MI can still win with its batting if you take out pollard, you're losing a batsman, bowler, and top fielder. and a leadership figure. Link to comment
Straight Drive
Pollard did not get much chances in every match as he was batting in lower middle order even though batting was his dominant skill. Whereas Malinga being specialist bowler got 4 overs to bowl in almost every match. Malinga had more time to showcase his skills whereas Pollard did not even get to bat in many matches. Stan AF
Pollard was the top scorer in 2013 and 2019 finals. Malinga bowled a heck of a first spell removing Hussey/raina in his opening over and set the tone for the game. 2017 final Malinga was too good in defending 129. If my memory serves me right smith was also dropped in his spell. Both are top of the draw for MI. Without them they'd be short by 3 titles at-least, Link to comment
