More than anything else, this tournament has, so far, well and truly justified Dhoni's decision to drop Dravid, Gangs from the one-day team. Had they been there, we wouldnt be the young, energetic and cohesive unit we are now. We would have been a disjointed, lethargic team where the oldies would have been an unbearable liability that had to be carried by the young guns. No offence meant to these greats, they have done massive things for our cricket team and country. There have been innumerable occasions in the past when we have made proud coz of 'em. But there is no way they can continue to demand a place in the team based on their legacy and seniority. Heck, EVEN Sachin was dropped from the ODI team for the B'desh series, right after the world cup. He literally had to prove his credentials in the limited overs form of the game. If that is the kind of performance benchmark applied to Sachin, then guys like Dravid and Ganguly dont even stand a chance. And to think Ganguly missed no chance to publicly campaign for his inclusion in the ODI team is most disturbing. It was almost like as though he was challenging the authority and wisdom of MS Dhoni, the ODI captain. I hope this IPL finally puts to rest, even the silent whispers that we hear every now and then, asking for the seniors to come back.

we can add dravid to this list as well. over $1000000 gone waste. got out for a 1st ball 0 today & avg similar to ganguly gangulys 19-ball 12 screwed it up for kolkata today. scored only 1 run off 9 balls off muralitharan and brought the run-rate down from 10 to 7

Reposted from matchthread.... One of the worst duds of the IPL, Royal Challengers were shown their place in clinical style by the Royals. When teams are stuck with the likes of Dravid, VVS, Ganguly etc...this is the only result possible..today Ganguly and Dravid were once again exposed pathetically as batters in t20, and their teams humiliatingly thrashed. VVS has already been exposed and even with star players they are at the bottom, and will probably stay very close to it. KKR with the so called big names, failed miserably, with McCullums , Pontings, and Gangulys having no clue as to what to play. As the days go by, there will be much more pressure on the Dravids, Gangulys etc and soon we will see some big names being forced to drop themselves from the 11...till then their sides will continue to be thrashed by the top sides like Chennai and Delhi, as these dud sides are carrying deadwood players as captains whose pathetic lack of t20 skills are affecting their team performances as also the respect they have in the teams.
