CSK Fan
Harbhajan Singh debuted as an eighteen year old, highly talented spin bowler in a country where good spin bowlers were considered a norm than a find. Immediately he was mired in controversy both regarding his action and his on field antics. He was fined in his very first series when he breached the code of conduct and got into an altercation with Ponting. In the next few years there were some average and some decent performances but he was never able to cement his place in the team. He performed well against minnows. Then came the 'exile' from cricket where he was not selected for the team for almost a year, perhaps the most difficult period of his life. During this time he also squandered an excellent opportunity when he was selected for National Cricket academy to be trained under Prasanna and Venkataraghavan when he was expelled because of indicipline and unbecoming behaviour. His father expired and Harbhajan had to support his family. He thought about quitting cricket for good. Then came the Border-Gavaskar trophy and what happened next is the stuff of folklores. Harbhajjan created history by taking 32 wickets, spicing it with a hattrick and handing India a 'come from behind' series win against the best team in the world. Though him could repeat his dream performance, his form remained good for a long time. Controversies though, were not far from him either. He earned the wrath of ICC multiple times and was in the news for the wrong reasons. On Ganguly's exclusion, he went against Chappel in the media and proclaimed his support for the disposed captain. But with rising expectations came a steady decline in his potency. He was still dangerous at home. All his MoS and MoM performances has come at home. He was bowling flatter and faster and more focused on containing the batsmen. He overused his doosra and batsmen found it easy to pick. But he remained in the team mainly becasue we had no better. He added some skills to his batting and became a bits and pieces player, ideal for ODIs. His recent Aus tour saw him get involved in the infamous "monkey" incident and it was largely due to the clout of the BCCI backed by an outraged nation which saw him come out clean. Now this final incident might just earn him the ire of the BCCI. Bhajji has always been agressive be it with his ball, in his words and actions or in the media. Sadly, now its seems his agression is limited to words alone while his bowling is plainly defensive. His growing frusturation with himself and the pressure of celebrity and controversies is showing and culminated with him getting physical with a fellow player while he was captaining the team. So now the question before BCCI should we how to deal with the errant kid who had to grow up too fast. He might be a performer, but in-discipline should not be tolerated. Remember how our reaction was when PCB kept on pardoning Akhtar because he was a 'star' and where it led him. A heavy hand is what Bhajji needs. CSK Fan
^^ Do you agree that discipline wise he has been the worse Indian (most of Ganguly's fine where from a team's perspective).
Ram
^^ Do you agree that discipline wise he has been the worse Indian (most of Ganguly's fine where from a team's perspective). Depends on what you classify as 'Discipline' or 'Indiscipline'. Is getting under the skin of the opposition 'indiscipline' ? Is being aggressive on the field 'Indiscipline'? I wont 'discipline' my player just coz he was involved in some on-field abuse ( though mind you, there's also a limit to that too) Its funny coz Bhajjis' run-ins with the match-referee isnt something entirely new. Yet, after one single incident, people are starting to brand him this and that. Quite frankly, we really dont what happened. Lets wait for a while before the situation crystallizes. But going by Yuvi's statements, looks like Bhajji has really done something terrible. Wonder whats gonna come out of this.

Bhajji was thrown out of the national cricket academy because of serious breaches of discipline (AKhtar anyone?). Bhajji tried to create a rift between new captain Dravid, Chappel and old captain Ganguly when even senior players kept quiet. Bhajji riled Symonds in India after calling him Monkey following which he promised not to use that word again. And Bhajji 'accidently' said a similar sounding word in Aus. Bhajji was thrown out of the national cricket academy because of serious breaches of discipline (AKhtar anyone?).- That was a long time ago. Bhajji tried to create a rift between new captain Dravid, Chappel and old captain Ganguly when even senior players kept quiet - Not Corroborated information. I am talking about the interview he gave in various newspapers supporting Ganguly. How is that not colloborated? Bhajji riled Symonds in India after calling him Monkey following which he promised not to use that word again. DomainK
If he did indeed hit Sreesanth, a long ban is due here. At least for three months. He is lucky that ICC wont get into it. But if they find him guilty, nothing less than three months would do justice.
King
If he dealt with other players physically he should be banned from playing cricket for a while. Bhajji's got out of hand and he should be dealt severely. It's not acceptable he apologized and you are right he is our own Akthar. I'm sick of seeing Bhajji involved in every possible controversy. Sreesanth is no saint but lest he doesn't deal with people physically.
Sachinism
Bhaji and Sreesanth a disgrace to Indian cricket? These both always seem to be in the limelight for all the wrong reasons hardly do their names appear in the media for outstanding performances on the field Constantly need to be involved in some stupid incident after another Other countries realise how pathetic these players are and coz of that, it leads to India having a bad reputation
Yuvraj4Captaincy
Part of the blame goes to BCCI. They should discipline their cricketers and I am sure Bhajji will be a better disciplined cricketer now. Bhajji has performed exceptionally good in cb series and the last test series. Prudent
Looks like everyone have issues with these two: We had issues with these two - Arthur However, Arthur admitted that the behaviour of Harbhajan and Sreesanth during the India series "was not great" and said that the South Africans took up the Kanpur incident because Prince felt very strongly about it. "There was an incident in Kanpur. There was a hearing by the match referee (Roshan Mahanama) during which Harbhajan apologised to Prince. It was settled and we were happy with the apology. I am not 100 per cent sure what was said. But Ashwell felt very strongly about it at that time and that's why we took it up," Arthur said. "Sreesanth was just Sreesanth. Perhaps our players lost a lot of respect for him on the tour. He constantly abused AB de Villiers and it was very personal. But considering the general spirit in which the series was played, we didn't feel strongly enough to complain," he said. http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ipl/content/current/story/347912.html

CSK Fan
We had issues with these two - Arthur http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/ipl/content/current/story/347912.html We had issues with these two - Arthur Ajay S Shankar April 29, 2008 Sreesanth being Sreesanth: Mickey Arthur said his team lost a lot of respect for the bowler during the recent Test series © AFP A day after the Indian Premier League (IPL) banned Harbhajan Singh for slapping Sreesanth after a match in Mohali on Friday, it has emerged that the behaviour of both players had come under the scanner during the recent South Africa series in India, too. Harbhajan had to apologise to Ashwell Prince, the South African batsman, for abusing him during the third Test of that series in Kanpur last month and the South Africans "lost a lot of respect for Sreesanth" when he went after AB de Villiers, Mickey Arthur, the South Africa coach, told Cricinfo. Asked about the IPL incident, Arthur said he was not surprised because "when there are two such volatile players on the field, anything can happen." Harbhajan was banned on Monday from the first season of the IPL after Farokh Engineer, the match referee, found him guilty of slapping Sreesanth. The BCCI has initiated a separate probe into the incident. "At the end of the day, we are not squealers," Arthur said. "We strongly believe that what happens on the field stays on it. Besides, we were very happy with the general spirit in which the series was played in, and we left with very pleasant memories of the tour, especially the cricket that was played." However, Arthur admitted that the behaviour of Harbhajan and Sreesanth during the India series "was not great" and said that the South Africans took up the Kanpur incident because Prince felt very strongly about it. "There was an incident in Kanpur. There was a hearing by the match referee (Roshan Mahanama) during which Harbhajan apologised to Prince. It was settled and we were happy with the apology. But considering the general spirit in which the series was played, we didn't feel strongly enough to complain," he said. South Africa's three-Test tour of India ended in a 1-1 draw after the visitors won the second Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 90 runs before India came back strongly to level the series in Kanpur.
