fineleg
“We found out later that the main reason was we were a mixed group and they did not want coloured people,” the 23-year-old Londoner said. Indian 'authorities' saying no to color. The irony of it is so thick! I hope someone sues the heck outta these people who refused to allow them, but then again does suing work in India!? Well, what do u expect in a place with lowlife ad's like the "Fair & Lovely" ads

flamy
OK, PC aside, you got to look at it as a pure business decision. The cheerleaders are just eye-candy and nothing else. Beauty is skin deep and that is all they are getting paid for. Why should we question then the perception of beauty, however skewed, of a nation brought up on the notion that fairer skin is more attractive? Would you have 300-pound fat cheerleaders? ludhianvi
Would you cast a black man as an ancient asian kung-fu specialist? He simply doesn't fit. How about a panda? as in Kungfu Panda:tounge_smile: As for the topic, The MI and CSK have desi cheerleaders. Bangalore have mixed cheerleaders as well. fineleg
nothing abt PC, flamy. Its abt hurting ppl with darker skin color which is no fault of theirs. Its discrimination based on color which is illegal, so its against the law.

Of course, as mentioned in the OP, it should have been specified, they wanted only white girls.

flamy
The girls are there for just one purpose. Sexual tittilation. Why then, should we question the sexual preference of other people? That's like questioning gays and lesbians. Oopsy-daisy.
fineleg
flamy, this is not an escort service. this is a cheerleaders squad where discrimination on color is illegal
flamy
What are the cheerleaders being paid for? The audience is there to catch a nip-slip, or an upskirt, or anything that furthers their imagination. If a black girl does not fit into the audience's choice, then she is simply not qualified for the job.
fineleg
And the audience consists of many people with different tastes. There is no universal "preference" for only gori. And mind you, 99% of the audience are not gora, gori, they are colored!
flamy
Indians have been known to prefer fairer skin over darker skin. And that is right, Indians discriminate against darker Indians. Stupid, but true. So, the audience being 'colored' makes no difference. When you are going to be thinking of entertainment for a crowd, you tend to go with the general preference, rather than take into equation the different preferences of different people. I believe the company made a dumb mistake by not explicitly stating they want only Caucasians. Even dumber was to ban these two girls just before the match. They could've let them dance for that match and later fired them. However, it is not 'racist'.
fineleg
I disagree with the statement that it is not. But, anyways. It will be interesting to see if they can take this to court and sue (only thing is court cases can be a mockery as well)
flamy
Fine, lets agree to disagree. Thankfully, political correctness can just not enter into the sexual choices of people. But, maybe soon, we wont have that freedom either. :nervous:
