Willow_on_fire
Lacklusture performance in the Asia cup finals. he got out cheaply when his team needed his valuable contribution.... and it cost him a place in the Test team. But...for him to improve his batting against quality spin bowling....test matches are ideal. your views please....thanks Link to comment
DomainK
I think he was dropped because of his test form. You need out standing form to replace anyone in that amazing batting line up. I dont think his performance in the Asia cup mattered at all. Link to comment
The Outsider
I hope he was dropped for being a mediocre performer in tests ever since his debut rather than a dismissal in some ODI. Link to comment
sandtest
It would be in the best interest of India as well as of Yuvi, if he concentrates only on limited over Cricket, instead of pursuing his "mrig-trishna" for test cricket. Yuvi will still be regarded as a great Cricketer if he continues producing match winning innings in ODIs and T20. He has all ability to become the first player in the history who can prove that even without playing Test Cricket one can be rememberred as a great of the game. .....if only he gives up his obssession for test and puts all his efforts for ODIs. msb1991
I believe that a key problem with cricket punditry, shown no better than here is the ignoring of the fact that selectorial decisions often have more than one reason. Yuvraj is not a fantastic Test player at all nor is he a member of the Test first XI and so he is seen as dispensible. Furthermore, like Dhoni, he has played a lot of ODI and T20 cricket as of late and is in need of a rest. Thirdly, that knee of his has been troubling him somewhat lately and he needs to rest it. And finally, the BCCI obviously, for whatever reason, wanted to give an opportunity to Rohit Sharma in the Test squad. Link to comment
satishg
his test form has been poor of late..so thats the primary reason for him not being included..i guess he has t wait till one of the fab 4 retires to have a realistic chance of making into the squad..until that happens he will be in the fringes.. amits
no need for yuvraj to be in tests. we already have players like badrinath & dhawan, who r excellent players of spin to replace the big 4 after they retire Link to comment
Yuvraj4Captaincy
Yuvraj needs to work a lot on his cricket if he wanna become one of the all time great. Tiem and talent is with him. Mental strength and temperament I am not sure. Link to comment

Not everyone is as weak as Dhoni. Yuvi is desperate to prove himkself in the ultimate test of a cricketer , unlike others who duck the challenge! Link to comment
amits
dhawan avges 41 in fc cricket, which is not bad at all. and dhawan can play spin & short-pitched bowling better than most batsmen in india. from what i have seen of dhawan, he will be a huge success in the odi & test level in the future for india Link to comment
msb1991
dhawan avges 41 in fc cricket' date=' which is not bad at all.[/quote'] Not bad, but not great and he has hardly been in outstanding form. He has done well, no doubt about it, but was outperformed by Chopra - so he is not even the best performing batsman in his state. Link to comment

arkay
He was dropped because he cannot play quality spin. In addition, he has not performed well in the last 4 test matches he played. These are the prime reasons. Link to comment
yoda
he is pathetic test player. good enuff reason? Link to comment
Dravid
he def. got dropped for his odi form.. if he had couple of 100s in recent odi's he would be in there ahead of rohit.. Link to comment
gs
IMO its a cumulative effect of both his failure in Asia cup finals as well as his pathetic performance in tests in Aus. It would have been extremely difficult for Dungsucker and his cronies to do a quota based selection, and choose Rohit ahead of him, if he had scored some meaningful runs against Murali, Mendis and Co. However, he has only himself to blame. In Aus test series, he struggled against both pace and spin, and could hardly put bat to ball. Considering that quality of spin in Brad Hogg was substandard at best, it further dented his confidence and reputation. He will get his chance when the big 4 retire - just has to bide his time! For that , he needs to stop avoiding domestic cricket. Link to comment
