Sachinism
The ECB is considering a request from the BCCI to push back the first Test between England and India by a day to allow breathing space for both teams between the two-match series that starts on December 11 and the Champions Twenty20 League that ends the previous night. The request was made during meetings between BCCI and ECB officials over the weekend. Andrew Walpole, the England team's media manager, said the ECB "is yet to take a decision" on the matter and was studying the suggestion."I understand it's connected with their desire to have India players take part in the Champions League," he told Cricinfo. Apart from easing the logistical difficulties that come with starting the Test series a day after a major tournament ends, the BCCI's request will free Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the India captain, for the final of the Champions League on December 10 - if his team, Chennai Super Kings, makes the cut. However, if the ECB agrees to the proposal, it will leave the England team with just two days to recover between the two Tests. The first match is currently scheduled from December 11-15 in Ahmedabad, and the second from December 19-23 in Mumbai. The English camp is also understood to be keen on sticking to the departure date from India (December 24), so that the players are home for Christmas. Dhoni is the only player from either side taking part in the inaugural Champions League and the Test series that follows. Chennai Super Kings - owned by India Cements, headed by N Srinivasan, the BCCI secretary - have been drawn against Middlesex from England, Western Australia and Titans from South Africa in Group A, and will play their last group match against the Titans on December 7. ----- Test match is 3 weeks away and they are considering changing the dates. wtf screw the stupid tournament They are going to destroy Dhoni Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
They will have to adjust the test dates, because obviously Dhoni has to lead CSK in finals. BCCI will make sure they get it done :-) Link to comment
Sachinism
There is a plus side in that some of other players will get an extra day of rest But changing dates on such a short notice.... Link to comment

King
BCCI is doing this to accommodate Dhoni in Champions league? That's terrible. Dhoni must be smiling ear to ear knowing they are fiddling with the dates to ensure he gets to play for Chennai Super Kings. Why couldn't they decide this well in advance? Link to comment
Desi Cartman
if India cant become No1 team in the next couple of years then it will be because of stupid BCCI. They will cut short many careers and kill test cricket as well. Link to comment
satishg
guess MSD is now bigger than the Little Master in India..BCCI is willing to bend the rules for Dhoni.. Link to comment
msb1991
This is getting ridiclous, form the calender to account for T20 leagues, changing the dates of games to accomodate a competition which has been in the planning for years is unacceptable administration. Link to comment

Judging by the crowd these days for test matches, BCCI doesn't have to try to kill it.......its already on a lifeline. Link to comment

Did the recent test series reach nearly that level? Link to comment

They should play test cricket , promote it and stop running after money. 5 day tickets , games on weekdays , IPL matches , having 2 more ODIs rather than another test match : all this shows how much of a non profit organization BCCI is. bharat297
This is so stupid ... Test cricket should take preference. I dont even think we need this stupid champions league. Cancel the damn thing. Link to comment

You have no idea how much cricket in India has improved in the last decade ? Before, ranji players got a couple of thousand rupees for a single game. Now theymake lakhs. Before, unless you made it to the national side, cricket could not be a profession. Now, if you make it to any IPL team or even your state side for a few years, you can retire. BCCI maybe non-profit in the sense there are no monetary stakeholders or owners but it still has a duty to make money.......as much as possible. It affects the entire cricket system in India. If BCCI goes bankrupt, cricket will go down with it. Look at how hockey went down in India. 20 something gold medals and now we cant even get qualified. Link to comment

Im not against IPL or ODIs but im against stupid decisions like playing extra 2 ODIs rather than playing an extra test, Playing 2 extra ODIs against pak last year rather than playing an extra warm up game in Aus, pushing players to play too many games. BCCI has more than enough money for now. There is no harm in making profits or paying cricketers more but to make these stupid decisions which impact on the result of test cricket is wrong. All that happened when BCCI pimped ODIs just like they are doing 20/20 now.. There should be a parity between tests, ODI and 20/20 but it is still BCCI's job to make money. Link to comment
SachDan
Never been a CSK supporter.More so now coz I hope Dhoni is with the test team a day in advance and plan strategies on how to humiliate Poms! Link to comment
