India SLAUGHTERED Australia today at the Eden Gardens

From Cricinfo: Australia's heaviest post-war defeat. At Calcutta they were slaughtered by India, who in the process took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Australia were 1 for 2 after the first over, after which things only got worse. The margin was an innings and 219 runs, and India used up only five wickets in reaching their 633, which included 85 fours and six sixes. All of a formidable top six (Laxman, Sidhu, Dravid, Tendulkar, Azharuddin, Ganguly) reached 50, but the masterclass came from the captain Azha, who charmed his way to an unbeaten 163. Australia's attack wasn't the best - remember Paul Wilson and Gavin Robertson? - but they did have Shane Warne. With 0 for 147, this is not a match he'll care to remember. http://uk.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1997-98/AUS_IN_IND/AUS_IND_T2_18-22MAR1998.html Remember watching the game as a kid, India put aussies to the sword. Azza was simply magnificent. infact all Indian batters had a field day!

Re: India SLAUGHTERED Australia today at the Eden Gardens Loved this game! Sidhu and Laxman flayed the Aussie attack with a 190+ opening stand. SRT was just merciless in his 79 and Azhar was, well, his usual self at Eden. Gangs opened the bowling with Srinath and ended up with 3 wickets on the 1st day.
