India Vs. Sri Lanka -- Pregame Strategy/Teams/Predictions

Recommended Posts

Ok, SL has done it's job by making little tiger cutlets out of our friendly eastern neighbors. Time for the dadas of this mohalla to step up and be counted: Prem Panicker says:

hat being the case, not sure if I would want, if I were picking the team, to bring in Dinesh Kartik in place of Uthappa -- I am seriously not sure what Kartik will do if Ganguly, Sehwag, Sachin, Dravid, Yuvraj, Dhoni all fail. I'd rather bring in Pathan -- but word I hear is that the coach wants him in the side but the senior players are not convinced of his form. Word from the nets is that Sreesanth is bowling superbly; even if that weren't the case, I would back him over Agarkar for this key contest, and I would, further, give the new ball to Munaf alongside Zaheer. And finally, Wright believes Kumble should get the nod ahead of Bajji; I might worry a bit, mainly because it is Sri Lanka and they are not too shy about hitting spinners, especially those whose stock delivery travels in straight lines.
And John Wright Says: http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/talk/content/multimedia/286259.html?view=transcript Meri Team: Uthappa-Gangs Sehwag-Dravid Yuvi-SRT KKD-Bhajji Sreesanth Zaheer Munaf No Kumbles because he has been hit for plenty by these fellas. Play to our strength - batting.

Re: India Vs. Sri Lanka -- Pregame Strategy/Teams/Predictions If they're brave, they'll play Aggy in place of Uthappa or KKD, which is fine by me. Apparently Sree has been looking great in the nets, and knowing him the guy is raring to make an impact in the WC -- let him loose. 5 over opening spells by Aggy and Zaheer (2 slips and a gully), and then let Sree and Munaf go for it. And rotate them with Bhajji. It'll be brilliant, I can already smell the blood.

Re: India Vs. Sri Lanka -- Pregame Strategy/Teams/Predictions There is no way, Uthappa should be dropped.... That guy can change the complexion in a matter of 10 overs and thts what we need in a high-pressure game.... not someone who will bat 135 balls for 60 runs and choke himself and the rest until the whole team is suffocated with the idea that their bowlers are jus too good..... I would like to see Sreesanth in for Aggy... Though Jaya is Aggy's bunny, there is no reason why Sree cant prise him out..... he has an equally good inswinger to the left-hander....

Re: India Vs. Sri Lanka -- Pregame Strategy/Teams/Predictions Ok, my team is facked up. disregard. Dhoni is obviously in. Let's talk specifics boys and girls. Who will get who out how -- plans, strategies, schemes. I would love it if we went in with 5 bowlers. And attacked all the way. No step back. Hype this facker up. :tired:

Not at all, Roy 'saab ! SL are India's whipping boys - always have been and always will be. They came to India in the fall of '05 ranked the 2nd best team in the World, having vanquished all before them. They would leave with their hands in their faces; shocked after the Indian batting machine steamrolled them over a 7 match series. Galvanised by some confident performances in NZ and ENG, they would return to the den a month before the start of the WC - confident that they would notch up a series victory and gain a much-needed morale booster. After reaching a high in the aftermath of the first match which they won by a nose's length; they would come crashing down to reality as India whipped them into submission in the subsequent matches to win the series 2-1. Vaas, Muralitharan, Malinga, Maharoof, Fernando and whoever else there may be - all have been subjected to the most excruciating punishment of their careers at the hands of of the Indian batting machine. The psychological hegemony created by Asian giants India over their small-time minnows will be the biggest factor, and one which can never be underestimated - the form of the two respective sides notwithstanding. For everytime Jayasuriya may be flogging it to all corners; the moment he sees Agarkar - his mind becomes clouded with doubt. Everytime Vaas and Murali step up to the Indian batting machine they immediately know they will need to produce a super-human effort to obstruct the inevitable brutality which will be inflicted by Tendulkar, Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and the D-Man. The memories of the two crushing series defeats will be evoked once again on Friday as India unleash their full force of will on these hapless islanders. 26th of MAY 1999 - IND win by 151 runs 10th of MARCH 2003 - IND win by 183 runs 23rd of MARCH 2007 - IND win by 2xx runs ? Ownage. Brought to you by the Indian cricket team.

Re: India Vs. Sri Lanka -- Pregame Strategy/Teams/Predictions I'd go in with Sree in place of Kumble and Pathan for Ketchuppa. That gives us 5 bowlers. You don't play spinners against SL. They will love it. Hit them with pace. They'll crumble.

No sreesanth plz I like Sreesanth and his commitment but we cant throw him at Jaysurya and co in an important game. Sreesanth is a wicket taker but bowls a 4 ball every over. See the India match against Oz in ICC torunament. he bowled well but he gave away so many runs in the early overs that we could not build any pressure. Also no Kumble plz - he is a great minnow killer who dont know that he cant sping the ball an iota. My team: Uthappa, Ganguly, Dravid, SRT, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Dhoni, Bhajji, Munaf, Zaheer, Agarkar

Re: India Vs. Sri Lanka -- Pregame Strategy/Teams/Predictions MY XI for the impending MASSACRE vs SL 1. Sehwag 2. Ganguly 3. Tendulkar 4. Yuvraj Singh 5. Dravid 6. Dhoni 7. Pathan 8. Harbhajan 9. Agarkar 10. Zaheer 11. Munaf Don't underestimate Bhajji; he has a good record in ODI's vs SL. Ever looked at his list of top victims in ODI's ? Names like Atapattu, Dilshan, Jayasuriya, and Arnold figure prominently. He played a huge role in shackling their batting lineup in the last two series vs SL - remember that spell of 10-0-30-0 when SL scored 298/4 at Jaipur ? He has the guile to compete against them. Pathan should be included solely for lengthening the batting lineup; he also beats the sh*t out of their bowlers. India can't afford to include Kumble though; they know his game inside out. Uthappa is turd - my views on him are well documented. Sehwag is a confidence player and SL are just the team he needs to face at this point in time.

Re: India Vs. Sri Lanka -- Pregame Strategy/Teams/Predictions First three in the list are the only ones I would "CONSIDER" changing- My team- Karthik (Utthapa had his chance...give Karthik a go) Agarkar (Sree sprays a lot but so does Aggy. I will stick with Aggy) Bhajji (can spin + hit the ball unlike Kumble) Ganguly Dravid SRT Yuvraj Sehwag Dhoni Munaf Zaheer There is no way Pathan is going to take wickets so absolutely no reason to include him. Can't include him as a specialist batsman either when we can include a genuine specialist batsman.

Sree for Munaf. Irfan for Uthappa.
hain?
Munaf has been ineffective. We need wickets which Sree can get us. Can't drop Aggy as he owns Jaya. Uthappa has been dodgy so far. Irfan can get us runs at #3 and may be even get us some wickets.
