Did Bob know too much about the bookies? Did Bob know too much about the bookies? Wednesday, March 21, 2007 08:24:02 pm Jamaica's police has already confirmed that there's a strong murder angle to Woolmer's death. The mystery surrounding Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer's death is far from being solved. One of the theories at work is that there could be a bookie angle to Woolmer?s death. A former Pakistan Cricket Board official recently revealed that the deceased coach's forthcoming book, ?Discovering Cricket? may have exposed the cricketer-bookie nexus in Pakistan, India, and South Africa. Pak?s history of match-fixing Now, there is reason to believe that someone in the Pakistani camp may not have wanted Woolmer dead. Historically speaking, quite a few Pakistani cricketers have been linked with bookies and match-fixing scandals in the past. Some of these cricketers even had to pay for their links with bookies. In fact, it was Pakistan's former captain Saleem Malik, who became the first player to be banned from all cricket for match-fixing, when Justice Qayyum's inquiry found him guilty of trying to bribe Shane Warne and Mark Waugh to lose the Karachi Test of 1994-95. For the record, Australia did lose this Test by one wicket. Pace bowler Ata-ur-Rehman was another Pakistani cricketer who was banned for life for being involved in match-fixing. However, he was later freed by the ICC to return in May 2007. There were allegations of Pakistani cricketers being involved in match-fixing once again when their team suffered a shock defeat to Bangladesh during the 1999 World Cup. In the latest instance, the Pakistan-Ireland game at the 2007 World Cup has also raised many eyebrows. The question however remains -- Did the Pakistanis play to their full potential against Ireland? Does their batting display against the Irish suggest some foul play? One must keep in mind the fact that the betting odds before this match were heavily staked in favour of Pakistan -- at 8 is to 1. In other words, whoever placed a significant amount of money on Ireland was guaranteed to make a fortune. Looking at the bigger picture, one cannot help, but wonder -- Are all these factors in any way related to the death of Bob Woolmer? http://www.timesnow.tv/Sections/News/Did_Bob_know_too_much_about_the_bookies/articleshow/1790324.cms

bookies can't fix matches players do..... so who are these mofos
its arranged by them. Its a big syndicate and more then often they know the result of the game b4 hand
Yeah, but I think DR is referring to the fact that you need players to carry out the orders. If this is true--that Woolmer was murdered by some gun-for-hire working for the Underworld, ... ... then which Pakistani batsmen did they co-opt. HEY RAM. This just keeps getting dirtier and dirtier.

Re: Pakistan Ireland Match Fixed by Asian Bookies All said and done I can't think of someone just strangling to death just because one old fella is accusing someone of fixing games. To be honest so many have got away and are leading great life. Just saying something without proof will not really nail the players will it? I suppose given that alchohol was involved and if he was strangulated it could be a spur of a moment work. Probably a fight went out of hand or something? Still we are all speculating and the cops are not doing a good job by not letting out all that they know at this point in time. The media these days is very smart and will extract all the info out even before the cops come out in open.
