Economical Impact on India losing

Recommended Posts

Let's just say,for the sake of argument that India does lose the game against SL and we are knocked off the WC. The 4 ICC global partners are LG,hutch,Hero honda and hutch. And all 4 are in bcos of India and India alone. Pepsi does sponsor Pak but if it wasnt for India ,they wouldnt be sponsoring the ICC. Next comes the TV broadcaster.SET max which bought the rights is expected to get 500 crores from this WC. They will be the biggest hit bcos they are selling the ad spots per game and havent sold all the spots for the next round. But if India is out, they wont even make half of that as advertisers are not gonna be buying spots for high prices.Ofcourse ICC still gets to pocket the 70 million from this. ICC wont be losing anything this time around cos they are already paid but next time, they will not make as much as they are making now. Cos since the rise of India as the economic superpower in cricket, this is the 1st time they will miss out more than 2 games (semis and finals).Even in 99, we just missed 3 days of cricket. will the sponsors pull out of the WC or setmax ask for a refund?

Re: Economical Impact on India losing It was not predecided and certainly no pre conditions who proceeds to what round so no way those companies can pull out. If they do then they sure are silly to do so. Who has seen 4 years from now? Indian companies may not be keen at all then. Cricket may not be the popular sport in India as it is right now. To be honest we simply can't predict what happens in 4 years time. Either way if the World cup is going to be held in sub continent in 2011 there will be enough corporates queing up to sponsor anyways.
