http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/holnus/007200903181512.htm Karachi (PTI): Struggling to recover from the wounds of the Lahore terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team, Pakistani umpire Ahsan Raza's misery has been compounded by the PCB's apathy, local media reported here. According to 'Daily Jang', Raza is still admitted in the intensive care unit of the Government Services Hospital in Lahore. The report says that the Pakistan Cricket Board officials have turned a deaf ear to his pleas for help and the umpire has had to purchase a fan with his own money to escape the heat as there is no air conditioning in the unit he is admitted in. "Although there is a PCB employee present at the hospital in the day to care of Raza but no senior board official has bothered to visit the umpire and be in touch with the doctors and inquire about his progress from serious wounds," the report said. Raza, a first-class umpire, was the fourth umpire for Pakistan's second Test against Sri Lanka and was traveling to the ground with the other match officials when terrorists attacked their convoy. During the attack, Raza sustained gunshot wounds in his kidney and liver and had to be put on ventilator. ========================================== Raza should be careful in criticising PCB because Ijaz Butt, Wasim Bari, Javed Miandad and Younis Khan would be upset. PCB Chief has already given a clean chit to the security provided for the team and officials. I would not be surprised if some one from PCB claimed "May be Raza had an enmity with his relatives who shot him"!!! I wonder whether the great human being Younis Khan cared to visit the umpire at the hospital . They can always find another 4th umpire at home, where as getting international cricketers is more important and so every body is focussing on protecting PCB & Pakistan image, which is lying in shatters and torn to shreds in the attack. unimaginable hypocrisy.PCB cant even bother to arrange a fan, leave alone an AC. These guys are not human.what is the use of education and all the money if they cant even take care of a fellow paki who is critically injured!!! they r spending their time in sending legal notices to Broad where as an Umpire is left to his own fate.Animals certainly help more.
