Hotel, shops pull out of special WC plans

AHMEDABAD: Team India T-shirts and caps and special menus at hotels for the World Cup such as 'Dhoni Dhoom' lassi and 'bouncer' mutton burger is now a thing of past. Many hotels, restaurants and shops have decided to pull out of all the cricket promotion after the humiliating defeat of the Men in Blue. A city-based hotel which had made special menus pasted on mini cricket bats has got back to the old menu after India lost. Chitresh Saraswat, manager food and beverages (F&B), Hotel Pride said that people would not be impressed anymore. Working on similar lines, F&B manager, Le Meridien, Ajit Singh, who was offering dishes named after cricketers will be limiting his creativity. "All promotions will be done only in the big matches like the ones between Australia and South Africa," claimed Singh. Meanwhile, high-flying plans made by Planet Sports of Surat regarding selling Team India T-shirts and caps suffered a severe beating after the loss. Sales executive, Rinkesh Patel told TOI that they are losing out in terms of sales. However, curtains have not been completely brought down by the Hotel Lords Park Inn in Surat, who have been providing dishes using cricket terminology, informed general manager Rishi Puri.
