HEAT IS ON! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2nd season of Indian Premier League or in a 20-20 slam-bang style we say it IPL 2. At the time of writing this article, fire is about to take place and it is going to spread all around the world. No one will be spared, neither you nor us. IPL fever is back again with a BIG BANG. We have stumbled across an eccentric situation yet again. A situation where Indian are not Indians, Australians are no more Kangaroos, South Africans are not going to be known as Proteas. Instead, they are the Royal Challengers, yes; they are the Knight Riders, they are Daredevils and above all they are the huge bunch of cricketers fighting all together for multi-millionaire trophy that is none other than INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE. With IPL 2 passion catching hold of not only the cricket mad country – India instead whole of the world, we here at CricFire thought of digging out (from IPL’s gigantic ocean of talented players) 11 most trusted cricketers having the capability of turning tides their way at full throttle when on fire. So, just sit back, relax, read through the rest of the article and we are sure you are going to love it. Here goes the list:- 1- Matthew Hayden His availability for the whole tournament is really a big boost for Chennai Super Kings. After he was forced to reluctantly retire from International Cricket by the Australian selectors, his Ashes 2009 dream came to a tragic end. Now back again to playing days he has got the point to proof. He will make sure that the selectors do regret about their decision. He wants to show not only Australia but the entire world that he is still a hungry lion always ready to pounce on every opportunity in the way. 2- MS Dhoni Last year in the inaugural IPL season he proved his real worth by bringing his team Chennai Supe Kings to the verge of winning the IPL title. He had shown his mettle by doing things unexpectedly and present Indian captain is still a force to reckon. He is growing day by day as a cricketer. He is a great learner of the game, a great thinker, a great motivator and above all a great captain. People know Dhoni more than they know about themselves. So I suppose nothing much is required to write about this great player. 3- Sachin Tendulkar Sachin Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar….. do we need to say any further about him? The only thing I would like to add is that he is fit, he is eager to lead Mumbai Indians and above all he will be available throughout the tournament. Shane Warne watch out! You may have left the international cricket long time back but still Sachin may come to your wildest of dreams. 4- Virender Sehwag When he plays test cricket, he does not believe in leaving the ball and letting it go to the keeper. According to him, leaving the ball is just the waste of time. In fact, its real place is outside the boundary not the keeper’s gloves. So a person, who goes in a test match with this kind of mentality, can be very very dangerous in 20-20 format. It would be interesting to know what he thinks about the real place of a cricket ball in 20-20. May be its not just outside the boundary perhaps outside the stadium. Ha Ha…! 5- Gautam Gambhir Last season, the IPL performance has changed his whole career. He performed exceptionally well in the tournament, got the call from the selectors to play for the National Team and since then he never looked back. Really a daredevil playing for Delhi Daredevils. 6- Kevin Pietersen KP is all set to challenge ECB while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. His commitment was questioned when he was the captain of England Cricket Team and was left with no other option but to quit the captaincy. His voice was not heard by ECB at that time and by some powerful performance in IPL he will surely want to put his words forward infront of a deaf ECB. 7- JP Duminy Australians suffered their first home test defeat since a long time, thanks to the stand out performance by Duminy. He continued his golden run in matches against Australia at home as well. In fact, he is a trump card for Mumbai Indians. 8- Sanath Jayasuriya People tend to get rusty as the age crops up but this man looks younger than ever. Few months back he has become the eldest cricketer to score century in ODIs and looking into his performance last year in IPL, he has the power and confidence to do it again. 9- Yusuf Pathan Fearless cricket! This is what he believes. No wasting time in middle. Does not require time to settle his nerves because it seems he does not have any. Has the capability to win matches single handedly. Has already done it in past for Rajasthan Royals and then for India. There is no reason why he can’t do it again. 10- Suresh Raina After he was dropped from the Indian side few years back, we all have seen the resurgence of Raina both in 20-20 and ODIs. With fielding his biggest asset, he is definitely a player to watch out for in IPL 2. 11- Yuvraj Singh A 20-20 game gives this man a license to showcase whatever talent he possesses. Famously known for 6 sixes in an over, Yuvraj Singh holds the key for Kings XI Punjab if they want to qualify for the finals this year around. At this point of time many might be thinking where the hell is Andrew Flintoff in the list? Well, he can be an atom bomb in IPL 2 but his wayward fitness rules him out of CricFire’s list of IPL 11.
