The ICF acquisition story: Google to acquire ICF for $700 Million

Google to acquire ICF for $700 Milllion MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 27, 2009 - Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced today that it has agreed to acquire IndianCricketFans.com, the premier Indian cricket portal for fans to share their thoughts on cricket, for $700 million in a stock-for-stock transaction. Following the acquisition, ICF (aka indiancricketfans.com) will operate independently to preserve its successful brand and passionate community. The acquisition combines one of the largest and fastest growing online cricket fan communities with Google's expertise in organizing information and creating new models for advertising on the Internet. Leading Google analysts concurr that this investment is part of Google's larger Sport-Google initiative. Apparently Google execs think this is the best way to tap into the growing online social networking industry. Obviously buoyed by this news, ICF and its members have been behaving strangely in the last few days. Reuters reported the below incidents at ICF: 1) One of ICF's co-founders who was using the excuse of an MBA for his lack of activity at ICF, has reportedly quit his studies and was seen dusting his keyboard off, in an effort to start spamming ICF again 2) An Indian doc who lives in Britian, who renounced cricket just few months back, has become a rabid fan of T20 cricket. He was last spotted in a Mumbai Indians jersey cheering for his favorite sardar. 3) A Prof who calls himself an "Outsider" has changed his nick to "Insider" 4) An ex-founder who walked out of ICF a while back was seen rushing back to the ICF head office with a Koran in his hand. 5) The current CEO of ICF who lives in NZ, unaware of this acquisition, was still paying the monthly dues on time. 6) ICF's webmaster was busy adding an ICF porn section in an effort to make Google increase its acquisition bid 7) An Utah grad student who moderates this place, has apparently left school to become a full time poster at ICF 8) A Mumbaikar and ICF's chief camera man, was busy recording his next video, which constituted a guinness record 6994789th copyright violation. Apparently the combined GDP of the entire world isnt enough to litigate this man 9) A young cricket enthusiast has vowed to invest part of the acquisition proceedings to the great "Agarkar" who he believes was the greatest contributor to Indian cricket and ICF. 10) An NRI who returned to India recently was seen running from pillar to post to find a competitive bidder for a minimum of $701 Million deal. While the outlook looks rosy for the Google-ICF combo, many leading investors believe the future is fraught with risk and increased competition. "Its concerning that the founders of another portal, FakeFashion.com have been buying large sums of Credit Default Swaps on ICF", cautioned Andrew Goldman, Morgan Stanley chief advisor on "online capital markets". "Such large insurance purchases in isolation wouldnt be alarming, but they have been known to send suicide bombers to other portals. Thats always a worrying sign for ICF investors". Ravi, ICF's CEO sounded optimistic about ICF's future. "We've witnessed the anu_Ds, MaxMulers and Turkish hackers. Our latest firewall technology can proactively spot and shoot suicide bombers, so security is the least of our concern. We're very excited to be part of the largest internet company in the planet". Ravi sure isnt alone, the entire world is eagerly looking forward to seeing the Google-ICF combo in action.
