Selection Question

If Sehwag comes in, who goes out? The guy who apparently replaced him in the playing X1, Pragyan Ojha, produced a match-winning bowling performance. In today's match, Irfan came in at no.7, which makes our batting a touch too shallow. For Irfan to come in at no.8, we need Viru to come back and a bowler to be dropped (we played 5 specialist bowlers today, something we havent previously done in T20s.) So, who goes out?

the problem of plenty is still a problem, mr dhoni. now india cannot drop rohit or ojha coz they both in super fortune cooking oil form obviously it will be yusuf dropped for sehwag but then why would u break opening partnership which give 2 consecutive 50 run starts in 5 overs, does not make sense and yusuf is also biggest hitter in indian team so why wud you drop a guy like that, that also does not make sense i think dhoni will keep playing rohit sharma unless some1 gets injured but this will cause media to put lots of pressure on indian team, they will keep asking questions and dhoni will have to read wirrtten statements after evry match

Cant be Yusuf man, coz dropping him will compromise two things - Our Batting depth and hitting power. And T20 success founded on these two. Irfan at no.7 is too high for him. That makes our no.s 8 to 11 really weak spots in our batting order.

Personally' date=' I would drop Irfan. His contribution today was 11 runs and giving away 10 runs in the 2nd over of the match with a six off his first ball. I can't think how reliable he will be. I'd say drop him.[/quote'] Gra, Irfan brings more to our T20 team than you think he does. And to prove that, he has significant contributions to our last 2 T20 wins. Sure, he made only 11 today, but there's a big difference between 172-173 and a 180 score.

Yes Yusuf is a game breaker. We need him. When he comes off he can pull off impossible things. So is Irfan.

Yea..Usually India would play one spinner. Ojha's success has complicated things. You simply cannot drop Bhajji as well. Yusuf's bowling is a definite plus. Not every batsman is going to be comfortable against his fastish off breaks. Can Dhoni just do captaincy and let Sehwag play for him :--D

We need Sehwag's explosiveness at the top. He's someone who can get us of jet-powered starts. Sure, he may get out 3-4 overs, but the 25-30 runs he manages to score in that period is invaluable. Though, I do think this selection dilemma will ease a bit a Ojha plays a lot more. Its just a matter of time before he's tonked around for a few in the coming matches.

why kick Yousuf out... this guy never gets chance to bat...always comes when only 2-3 overs left...while players like Dhoni take their time to settle down, Y.Pathan have to hit the ball from the first ball.. it will be very unfair for Y.Pathan... he was the soul of Rajasthan Royals...every match they won was single-handedly won by Y.Pathan alone... i say Hard luck Ojha...

I dont think so. India has one of the worst stats in T20 opening - very average economy rate wise, and the main reason being a high number of wickets in the powerplay overs. Guess who should be responsible for it . Yes .. virendar sehwag Look out for yourself here. http://www.cricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/407450.html
