http://cricket.expressindia.com/fulleistory.php?content_id=77630 Johannesburg, November 30: Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar hopes that 'grown up' people in the Indian dressing room would leave the tension between them behind and give their best once the Test matches against South Africa unfold later this month. He was not willing to dwell on the bad blood that had existed between coach Greg Chappell and Sourav Ganguly, now back in the Test squad, but felt it should take a backseat and nation's cricket should get the priority. "They are grown up people and they should be able to handle any tension, as you term it, behind in the interest of the team," said Gavaskar who is in Johannesburg as a television commentator for the ongoing tour. With the selection of Ganguly, whispers have started whether the former India captain retains good enough technique to do well against a home attack which would exploit the pace and bounce of the wickets. "Whether somebody would do well or not would only amount to speculation at this stage. Any suggestion at this stage would only mean guesswork," said Gavaskar. "But obviously the selectors have gone for experience and have looked to strengthen the areas where Indian team needs getting better at. The fact that the pitches in South Africa are fast, they have gone for additional support in opener Gautam Gambhir and paceman VRV Singh could be a standby to the medium pacers bunch," he said. Gavaskar said the selectors have picked the best available squad for the Test series. "The selectors here have gone for the best possible squad they feel would do well on this trip. They have opted for experience and instead of dwelling on the merit or demerit of it, one must offer one's backing to the Indian team," he added.

you're turning chappell vs. Ganguly into a class discussion? If I understand correctly, you're saying "Prince of Calcutta vs. Clerk ka beta Chappell" ? :wtf:
Well it kind of is....... BTW middle class doesn't mean clerk it could very well be professor''s son.. this is very wide group.

Sure, why not. If you're generalizing, may as well make it as general as possible

Re: Forget bad blood, think of cricket: Gavaskar Wishful thinking but Ganguly and Chappell both with huge ego I hope don't end up creating another drama. Last time around Ganguly created fair bit of rift between his players and the coach. I hope he doesn't have to revert to that. It is very clear that both Ganguly and Chappell are very political. Ganguly has shown in the recent past he can diss his mates (read Dalmiya) but at the same time has continued to admire Rahul. Even as recent as a week ago he questioned team tactics and also questioned Chappell's experiements. It would be one hell of a place the meeting rooms when Ganguly attends.
