Dravid was hit on the helmet by a short-of-a-length ball from RP Singh that rose sharply during a simulated practice session where the focus was on taking singles. He lay on the ground for about five minutes and was bleeding as he walked back to the dressing-room where he is being attended to by John Gloster, the physio. .... hope its not serious..

Re: Now Dravid hurt Rahul Dravid hit by R P Singh bouncer May 05, 2007 10:15 IST Last Updated: May 05, 2007 13:34 IST India's preparation for the upcoming Bangladesh tour suffered a blow, with Rahul Dravid getting hit on the face by a bouncer from Rudra Pratap Singh on the penultimate day of the conditioning camp in Kolkata on Saturday. Dravid, who was having batting practice on a grassy wicket, tried to hook a delivery and the ball came off his bat and hit his face. The Indian skipper, who was wearing a helmet, immediately collapsed and other members of the team rushed to him. Team physio John Gloster treated him for a couple of minutes before he left for the dressing room, bleeding profusely, with a towel wrapped on his face. The team's administrative manager Surendra Bhave, however, said the injury is not serious and Dravid is expected to resume playing in 48 hours. "Ball hit the visor of helmet and impacted on the grille. It is nose trauma but no cut or injury. It is not serious," he told media persons. "The X-ray showed bruises and 24-hour rest has been advised by the ENT specialist. He is expected to play in 48 hours. He will be slowly brought into action," he added. The team is scheduled to leave for its 23-day tour of Bangladesh on Monday and play its first one-dayer on May 10. On Wednesday Sachin Tendulkar sprained his right ankle, but since then his condition has fast improved. He sustained the injury when he ducked to a S Sreesanth bouncer on the same pitch. The team also had to contain with the absence of V V S Laxman, who did not make it to the camp as he was down with gastroenteritis.

Re: Now Dravid hurt

RP singh ke bouncer pe dravid gets hit on face. bad signs
He was hit not straight on the face, the ball took the edge of the bat and crashed on the helmet. I was surprised too thinking he was hit straight on the helmet by RPS.

Re: Now Dravid hurt What makes me laugh is that Indian bowlers like RP Singh and Agarkar have the gumption to bowl crazy, body-threatening deliveries at their own team's best batsmen but can never do the same when they face comparitively inferior players in actual matches. Remember Agarkar was the one who knocked Tendulkar's elbow back in '04 before the Holland triangular

Re: Now Dravid hurt Sachin takes ?charge? in Dravid?s absence Calcutta: Ian Chappell believes he is playing for the wrong reasons and has advised him to retire. Fans in Ahmedabad asked him to go back during the recent Twenty20 national meet. On Day I of the ongoing conditioning camp, he sprained his ankle trying to negotiate a Sreesanth bouncer. There seems to be no end to Sachin Tendulkar?s woes in recent times, but his importance to Team India cannot be missed in a crisis. With a bleeding Rahul Dravid being forced to leave the ground on Saturday morning, after being struck on the nose by a Rudra Pratap Singh delivery, and Team India apparently facing a crisis well before the first ball of the series against Bangladesh had been bowled, the seniormost pro stepped in to take ?charge?. By the time the evening session began on Day IV of the conditioning camp at the Eden, even cricket manager Ravi Shastri turned to Sachin. The players and support staff formed a huddle, with everyone being all ears to Sachin?s pep talk. The ?closed? session over, Sachin was seen constantly talking to Shastri, bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad and fielding coach Robin Singh, and directing proceedings on the field. Just what Dravid would have done had he not left for the team hotel. Once the players started feeling the heat going through the rigorous fielding and catching drills, Sachin got back to his own regimen ? a jog with yoga expert Sukhdev Kumar, a knock-about session, catching practice and an exchange of ideas with Dilip Vengsarkar. Earlier, he had his first proper batting session ? since spraining his right ankle on Wednesday ? during morning nets. He didn?t, however, take part in the drill where his teammates focused on various throwing techniques. Newly-wed Dinesh Karthik will join the camp on Sunday.
