The Outsider
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century Lara's century this year against us was quite dour so was Ponting's at Old Trafford last year, brilliant knock though. Good picks in the OP, cant really think of anyone else. Link to comment
gullu
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century I am mainly looking at strike-rate to make this list Azhar's first century was scored off 322 balls. Link to comment
The Outsider
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century Possibly Botham though I cant claim to have watched even half his centuries. Link to comment
Predator_05
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century Botham was renowned for his gung-ho batting style. Fetched him 14 test hundreds. He played some cracking innings against India. Link to comment
Gambit
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century Richards has played some dour knocks too. G Smith could be included in the list. Link to comment

Predator_05
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century Laxman.... Rarely changes his style? His hundreds at Faisalabad vs Pakistan and at Ahmedabad vs SL last season were dull as dishwater. No longer is he is a free-flowing, boundary-hitting batsman. In recent years, he has spurned whatever talent he has and adopted the approach of a Dravid-esque run-accumulator. Link to comment
Gambit
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century Laxman's ton against WI at Calcutta in 02 came off nearly 300 balls! But excellent match saving ton tough. Link to comment
Predator_05
Re: Batsmen who have never scored a dull test century I can't believe we forgot this guy... Chris Cairns' 5 test centuries; - vs Zimbabwe, '95 - 120 off 96 balls, 10x4, 9x6 - vs India, '99 - 126 off 200 balls, 16x4, 3x6 - vs Australia '99 - 109 off 138 balls, 14x4, 2x6 - vs Zimbabwe '01 - 124 off 174 balls, 13x4, 3x6 - vs South Africa '04 - 158 off 171 balls, 18x4, 7x6 87 sixes (3rd highest of all time) in just 62 Tests ! Other batsmen to have hit 80+ sixes (ie; Gilchrist, Richards etc) took about 20/30 more tests. Link to comment
