DesiChap
Cricketers to try out 'bindi' to improve focus :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Cricket News / Ashish Shukla NEW DELHI, May 7: Don't be surprised if Sachin Tendulkars and Sourav Gangulys of the Indian team are seen eyeing lovingly at a bindi . It's not an expression of feminine side of these players-instead it's an attempt to improve the focus of Indian cricketers. This idea has been put on table by Mr Ramesh Mane, the masseur of Indian team. Cricketers have been asked to put a specially prepared bindi - with some Saraswati mata's mantras - on the mirror and look at it intently for at least 15 minutes every morning and evening. Usually such an idea would have been dismissed out of hand by Indian cricketers but Mane commands an unusual respect among them. The genial masseur not only applies home-made balms on injured cricketers, he also acts as a soothing confidante of Indian players. Focus has been an issue with Indian cricketers - more so with so much happening on their personal front. Cricketers find their mental space crowded not only because of tussle with the board on contract issue but also the unusual humidity and heat which they are encountering in Bangladesh. Cricketers have gone away to Bangladesh, refusing to sign the contract forwarded to them by the board. Their objection is to the fact that board no longer wants to part with the 26 per cent of their revenue as has been the trend. They also objected to the clauses concerning their endorsement and sponsorship deals. As Indians reached Dhaka this morning, they were hit by the heat wave prevalent in the country where a 40 degree temperature is considered only normal these days. The blistering heat wave is likely to continue for another one week by which time India would have played all of their three One-Day Internationals. It's not usually a month to play cricket in the sub-continent and Bangladesh is no exception. Experts believe that dehydration and cramps among cricketers will be the order of the day. In order to counter heat and disorientation, Indian cricketers are already using the "imported liquid drink" a large quantity of which has been shipped from England. Ironically, the imported liquid drink actually has not gone down well with cricketers. Quite a few have vomited after consuming it. Indian cricketers are trying various ways to improve their focus and concentration in recent days. In the just-concluded camp in Kolkata, they availed the services of a yoga expert from Singapore. I'm sure BCCI must be happy saving money on psychologist. Link to comment
