So is he still in the running for the Indian cricket coaching job or have the BCCI passed up on him?

Nasim Ashraf, the PCB chairman, told reporters in Islamabad that the board had been in contact with Whatmore for the post but that nothing had been finalised as of now. "The PCB is in contact with Whatmore. Our negotiations are continuing and whenever something is finalised, it will promptly be made public."

Re: Pakistan expresses interest in Whatmore... Why would any sane coach pass up an Indian job for Pakistani one ? The loot is much smaller, you need to sit thru 5 mandatory p(b)raying sessions, you gotta write your will before you sign and after all this, u still have to write down what killed u before u die. Doesnt make any sense at all

This will be great' date=' there is [b']abundance of talent so all we need is some one is a strong character who can work the loose cannons in the team.
MP, stop kidding :hic: You guys are recycling the same old players. Who is your new opener by the way? Have you guys gone back to Salman Butt? :hic:

But today I am not so sure. There is no exceptional bowler coming up(Asif is one but is unlike an Imran or a Wasim/Waqar even a Shoaib), batting is nothing worth writing home about either. I mean which is the exceptional talent that shall pull anyone towards this job? Specially after the death of Woolmer on duty, murder or otherwise. xxx

Looks like Pakistan is talking to anyone and everyone. I think they should look inwards. The foreign coaches haven't had a good time and it is time they look at local coaches.
