Kaif, Raina hit unbeaten fifties Uttar Pradesh duo of Suresh Raina and Mohammad Kaif hit unbeaten fifties as Central Zone reached 150 for three on day one of the weather-hit Duleep Trophy quarterfinal against East Zone on Tuesday. In between the morning fog that held up play and the bad light that resulted in early stumps, only 38 overs could be bowled but Central Zone was gasping for breath at nine for three when Kaif and Raina joined hands to prop up the side. Raina (83) and Kaif (65) were in the middle when stumps were drawn, having raised 141 runs for the unfinished fourth wicket. Raina's 96-ball knock included 15 hits to the fence and a six, while Kaif's 115-ball knock had 12 fours in it. Put into bat, Central Zone found themselves in a spot of bother with Ranadeb Bose removing the scoreless Tanmay Srivastava with his sixth delivery as Wriddhiman Saha took the edge behind stumps. Ashok Dinda came to ball the next over and his second delivery proved a wicket-taking one as Manoj Tiwary caught the other opener Jalaj Saxena for a duck. Nine runs later, Dinda struck again to send back veteran Sanjay Bangar (1). From there on, Raina and Kaif started the resurrection process but light started deteriorating and after another weather-suspension, tea was taken early. However, only 38 overs could be bowled in the day, thanks to the continuous intervention of weather god. Expired juice served to cricketers Cricketers playing in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal match were allegedly served orange juice produced by a soft drink major, the expiry dates of which were over. The incident came to light when mediapersons were also served the same juice, Minute Maid pulpy orange, a product of the Coca Cola company, along with the players. The players, however, maintained silence when asked about the expired soft drinks served to them. When contacted, officials of the Coca Cola group, confirmed the incident saying that it happened by mistake

Coca cola group admit its a mistake (i'm assuming on their part) and you blame BCCI?
That's right. Seems the drinks were not bought from retail market in which case the BCCI could have been blames. Seems the drinks were directly supplied by the company in which case, it's only the company's mistake.

Sorry , BCCI can't wash it hands off saying its the responsibility of the drinks provider. For all such matches there is an organizing committee constituted by the BCCI whose responsibility is to ensure everything goes smoothly. They are not there to gorge on amritsari naan and chole or the langar at golden temple.

I don't think BCCI has washed it's hands off. There have been no statements blaming it squarely on the company. But I can't see why everything here must happen publicly?? May be the players complained (privately) and BCCI accepted it's mistake (privately) and may be they took action on those who were in charge (privately) and may be the players accepted the apologies (privately) and the matter comes to an end. It does not have to happen in a press conference.
