This is not a Coca-Cola problem, its the caterer who servers this food/drinks to the press and players. This is not only an issue isolated to BCCI event or something, if you go to any retail store, one must always check expiry dates as the shop just cares about getting rid of their inventory. I noticed this in PAtel Stores in Chicago, they sell Limca, Thumbs Up, Fanta, etc. and half of them are 2 years old minimum... you can make out from their bottles. I stopped drinking it after the 3rd one i bought had no fizz whatsoever.

What is Cheeka' son doing there? What did he do in this season to get in ahead of someone like Sathish who scored over 700 runs?
Unfortunately that's the way in Indian domestic teams :nea: 1. Why is Jaydev Shah (Niranjan Shah's son) in Saurashtra's team? And who the hell made him the captain??? Look at his domestic average over a fairly long period of time. 2. Why did Stuart Binny (Roger Binny's son) play the final instead of B Akhil? Read Ramchandra Guha's article 3. Why is Arjun Yadav (Shivlal Yadav's son) picked in the Hyderabad team despite his dismal statistics? And why is he the captain??? I guess you see what is common here.

one of the umpires in the Central vs East match is: Karumanaseri Narayanaiyer Ananthapadmanabhan from Thiruvananthapuram :stoned: Competition for some Sri Lankan names ehhh! :winky:
He is KN Ananthapadmanabhan, a very good leg spinner of his times and someone who might have played for India but for being from the same generation as Kumble. http://www.cricinfo.com/india/content/player/26241.html

Kaif puts Central Zone in command Skipper Mohd Kaif notched up his maiden double ton in first class cricket to guide Central Zone to a huge first innings total. Central Zone scored 480 for eight declared in their first innings against East Zone on the third day of the weather-hit Duleep Trophy quarterfinal match on Thursday. Kaif smashed an unbeaten 202 in 366 balls which contained 23 fours and a six. Stumper Naman Ojha (29) and spinner Piyush Chawla (27) were the other contributors for the Central Zone team. Bad light hit the proceedings of the match yet again as play started late and was called off early. Overnight at 143, Kaif started off well and kept the scoreboard ticking with his fluent strokes and agile running. He forged two crucial partnerships with Ojha and Chawla to help Central Zone cross the 450 mark. Ojha was the first to perish when he was caught by Ashok Dinda off Dhiraj Goswami. Chawla stepped in next and scored 48 runs along with Kaif before being dismissed by Saurasish Lahiri. R P Singh was the last wicket to fall in the 124th over. At stumps, East Zone were at 64 for one in 31 overs with Arindam Das (33) and Ishank Jaggi (1) at the crease. The only wicket to fall for them was of opener Dheeraj Jadhav (28) who was caught by Kaif off Sanjay Bangar in the 29th over. East zone officials asked to explain discrepancies East Zone cricket team's coach, manager and captain have been asked to explain alleged discrepancies in the selection of playing XI in the ongoing quarterfinal Duleep Trophy match against Central Zone in Amritsar. Challenging the team management's decision to omit Orissa players from the line-up, OCA secretary Ashirbad Behera had shot off a protest-letter to the BCCI and East Zone convener Bikash Barua. The East Zone convener on Thursday asked for a show cause from the captain (Saurabh Tiwary of Jharkhand), coach (Subrata Das of Jharkhand) and manager (Moloy Chakraborty of Tripura) and a copy has been sent to the BCCI. "I have no say in the team selection which was done in Amritsar... I have asked them to explain within a week the reasons for not considering the Orissa players in the XI," Barua told PTI. The 16-member East Zone squad has seven from Bengal, four from Assam, three from Orissa and two from Jharkhand including skipper Tiwary. But in the playing XI none of the Orissa players were picked as six from Bengal, three from Assam and two from Jharkhand made the cut.

Why is Duleep trophy being played on a knockout basis with such ridiculous rules? There should be more emphasis on winning matches and these tournaments should be played on a league basis, not knockout. Only the final should be a knockout played over 5 days and on a pitch assisting bowlers. I know they're trying to create room for the IPL, but these people are killing domestic cricket.

More... Central Zone to take on South Zone Vijay Lokapally INDORE: Central Zone’s batting exploits in the last match have raised hopes of a keen contest as South Zone comes prepared for the Duleep Trophy semifinal to be played at the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium here from Tuesday. A double century by Mohammad Kaif, a century by Parvinder Singh and a near-hundred by Suresh Raina paved the way for the Central seamers to demolish East Zone in the battle for the first innings honours at Amritsar. But the challenges would be bigger in this contest. South Zone, a superbly-balanced combination on paper, boasts of two of the most successful new ball bowlers on the domestic circuit this season — A. Mithun and R. Vinay Kumar. The Karnataka pair has rattled the best batting line-ups in the country and their contrasting skills would test the temperament of the Central batsmen. Mithun loves to let the ball go while Vinay believes in controlled aggression, relying on movement more than pace. A strong batting order makes South the favourite team in this four-day match. Manish Pandey, the most exciting young stroke-player in the country, gets one more opportunity to convince the National selectors that he belongs to the higher league. Central would not be a pushover. Kaif, Raina and Parvinder demonstrated their calibre effectively at Amritsar and the team would look up to the experienced Sanjay Bangar to show the way in this crucial encounter. Central would miss left-arm spinner Murali Kartik, surprisingly not picked, and the pressure would be on leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, off-spinner Jalaj Saxena to deliver in the company of seamers R.P. Singh and Praveen Kumar. The teams (from): South: S. Badrinath (capt.), Abhinav Mukund, S. Anirudha, Robin Uthappa, K.B. Arun Karthik, Manish Pandey, C.M. Gautam (wk), R. Ashwin, C. Ganapathy, R. Vinay Kumar, A. Mithun, Alfred Absolem, Shadab Jakati, R. Aushik Srinivas and K.B. Pawan. Central: Mohammad Kaif (capt.), Suresh Raina. Sanjay Bangar, Piyush Chawla, Tanmay Srivastav, Faiz Fazal, Naman Ojha, Monish Mishra, Praveen Kumar, Pankaj Singh, Parvinder Singh, Jalaj Saxena, R.P. Singh, Umesh Yadav and Akshay Wakare.
