Mumbai: The 8 IPL franchises have on Wednesday pared down the initial list of 96 players who had submitted their names for the 2010 edition of the tournament to 51. The players that have been selected by the franchises will form the pool of cricketers for the IPL auction slated for January 19 in Mumbai. Stars like Kieron Pollard and Ramnaresh Sarwan (West Indies), Nathan McCullum and Shane Bond (New Zealand), Clint McKay and Doug Bollinger (Australia), Chanaka Welegedara and Nuwan Zoysa (Sri Lanka), Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal (Pakistan) and Yusuf Abdulla and Rory Kleinveldt (South Africa) have found a place on the list that boasts some fine international talent. The list features 11 players from Australia, 9 from South Africa, 8 from Sri Lanka, 8 from the West Indies, 7 from Pakistan, 4 from New Zealand and 1 each from Bangladesh, Canada, Holland and Zimbabwe. No English names on new IPL auction list No English names on new IPL auction list There are no English names in the IPL's list of the 51 players who will be involved in the auction for the 2010 season. Lalit Modi, the IPL commissioner, told Cricinfo this is because of "new conditions imposed by the ECB". The original list of 97 players, released on Saturday, was pared down to 96 after Chris Cairns' name was removed; the current list comprises players whom the franchises have specifically selected for the auction. It is not immediately clear whether English players will be added before the auction, on January 19, though the IPL website says the list released on Wednesday is the "complete list". Those on the original list were Tim Bresnan, Anthony McGrath, Eoin Morgan, Monty Panesar, Adil Rashid, Jonathan Trott, Usman Afzaal and James Foster. While there has been no official explanation for the stand-off from either side, it is likely the dispute concerns the overlap between the English domestic season, which begins on April 9, and the IPL, which ends on April 25. The "complete" list released on Wednesday features 11 players from Australia, nine from South Africa, eight from Sri Lanka and West Indies, seven from Pakistan, four from New Zealand and one each from Bangladesh, Canada, Holland and Zimbabwe. Those who've made the cut include Kieron Pollard (West Indies), Shane Bond (New Zealand), Mohammed Aamer, Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal (Pakistan), Peter Siddle, Brad Haddin and Doug Bollinger (Australia) and Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh). Ah! Is it going to make much of a difference to SRK's team? I mean. they alreafy have big hitters in DADA and Gayle! And international players in Ponting, Hussey,Hodge...especially Hussey, he's been more than handy for KKR...Why do they need these two? maybe worth checking out..

But Gayle gavbe good starts didnt he? Or he atleast made it look like KKR was a dangerous side :P (oh yes they are, when they bat according to their potential, which they dont seem to be doing, courtesy John Buchanan) I think Gayle can do a whole lot of damage if he's opening the batting...he just needs some matches under his belt thats all.

For KKR Mcculum has been beter. So i wud want mcculum to open wid Dada, If he fails then we sud go wid Gayle. In the midle order players like Hussey and Hodge are very consistent. The 4 th player will be Umar Gul!!:D

England players back in IPL auction Nine English players will feature in the IPL auction on January 19 after league officials said a dispute over NOCs had been resolved. This takes to 60 the number of players who will be involved in the auction. On Wednesday, the IPL had released what it said was the "complete" list of players who would be part of the auction; it featured none of the eight England players who were on the long-list drawn up at the beginning of the month. Those eight were Tim Bresnan, Anthony McGrath, Eoin Morgan, Monty Panesar, Adil Rashid, Jonathan Trott, Usman Afzaal and James Foster; it's not immediately clear whether all have been included in the nine, or who has been added on. The point of dispute was the availability of English players outside the IPL season, Sundar Raman, the IPL chief executive, told Cricinfo. "We wanted clarifications specifically related to the availability of players outside of the IPL season so we don't need to keep going back for the NOCs," he said. "Franchises then can plan friendlies and practice games outside of the IPL season. That was one of the things that needed to be ironed out." He also said that only those players available for the full season would feature in the auction. "That is not a condition, that is a preliminary requirement," he said, adding that the ECB had cleared it. Raman said the IPL would release the names on Friday once it received the NOCs from the ECB. The delay, he said, was because some of the English players like Jonathan Trott were busy with the Test series in South Africa. He implied that the final call on the NOCs rested with the English board. "The ECB might want some of the players to be rested or available on tour or they might want to keep a check on any player who has suffered an injury," he said. There were reports that the IPL had introduced new changes to the terms and conditions in the NOCs; that is reported to have become a sticking point with the ECB, which wanted to sign an NOC related to the terms negotiated in February 2009. Raman said the NOCs signed in February 2009 applied to "that set of players" at that time. "But our player contracts are undergoing some changes and the new NOCs should reflect those changes in terms of his availability, payment terms and things like that," he said.
