Why do Saffies do better than Aussies against us on our home turf ?

Their batters who are notorious against spin do better than Aussie batters against our spinners and their disciplined but predictable bowling seems to get the better of our batters. Apart from that I struggle to understand why we don't crush them with as much ease as the Aussies, infact since their readmission into international cricket they have won as many tests as they have lost in India.

Because our MO struggles against them a lot. Laxman's, Dravid's, and Sachin's record against the saffers is appalling at home. Sachin averages 28 at home in 8 matches. Dravid averages 39 in 10 matches. Laxman averages 22 in 8 matches. And Ganguly only averaged 31 in 9 matches played.

Im not sure we can generalise looking at it so broadly The last time SAf toured there was that Motera debacle which played right into their hands with the pitch. And the time before that was in 2000 when Indian cricket was not doing very well under Tendulkar; Dravid and Ganguly had only just come on to the scene and we lost at home for the first time in years. I think they toured in 05 as well? And we beat them, Gangs was skipper. There was a freak result when they were touring in 96 and Klusener took I think a 7 wicket haul in the India 2nd innings and we lost. Was fecking shocking that one. Me thinks theyve been specific reasons each time pretty much. Dont think theres an overall reason why theyve been better than Aus.

The lat 3 tests that we have lost to SA at home, we batted first after winning the toss and letting the SA bowlers use the early morning mositure in the wicket. Also lack of good opening partnerships has been a problem. out of 18 innings, only 5 times have we got a 40 plus opening partnership ( 2 of them being 200 runs+ parnerships and both resulting in draws) We have that covered properly now, so should see a better performance this time round.

Saffies are a boring team. Australia goes for victory regardless of the situation. I remember one of SA's tour. They announced they were happy to go with a draw 0-0. To prove that Andrew hall made one of the most boring century on Indian soil.. They always have this safety first approach unlike Aussies. So Aussies give you a chance to win. SA doesn't.

Following on this thought, South Africans play a very measured and planned brand of cricket which can be disconcerting for subcontinental teams. For some reason Tendulkar and Laxman have chosen to express their unorthodox side more against Australia when subjected to these plans but gone into a shell against South Africa. It's quite surprising because South Africa are very easy to rattle with unorthodox cricket - and just for this reason it's a must that a leg spinner is played against them. But for the forthcoming series we have one of the most unorthodox opening pairs ever and if they can manage to throw the meticulous planning of South Africa off the chartered course they are sure to flounder - they very rarely develop plan Bs and Cs in the field of action, something the likes of Warne and Gilchrist exploited ruthlessly.

Wont matter. There is not a single indian bowler who can maintain some degree of control or stem the flow of runs. Mishra is worse than McGill when it comes to bowling four balls. Harbhajan is the most useless, over-rated piece of ******e and the same goes for Ishant. This series is gone for sure. We need some bowlers against top sides like Aus, SA and England

Ummm, We beat Aus in 08 at home (2-0) and England at home (1-0) with the same "useless" bowlers you just mentioned. P.S. Harbhajan loves Saffers. If we are to win this series, then he has to ante up his game.
