SachDan
New Delhi: Undeterred by the stiff financial norms imposed by Indian Premier League managers for the two new franchise teams coming up, more than 30 companies and individuals, including half a dozen foreign firms, have bought the Rs 5-lakh invitation to tender (ITT) from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to sources, Abu Dhabi United Group, Bukhatir Group (promoted by Sheikh Abdulrahman Bukhatir) and the Rotana Group (promoted by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal) from the United Arab Emirates are among foreign firms that have picked up the tender document, apart from a slew of domestic business houses and their promoters. Names of Sahara Group, Jaypee Infra, ICICI Ventures and Anil Ambani and Amitabh Bachchan are already doing the rounds even though most firms have declined their participation in IPL team auctions. “Several law firms have been engaged to understand the fine print of the documents. However, there are strict confidentiality clauses which prohibit making public the names of interested buyers for the two teams,†says a sports marketing consultant with the existing IPL teams. IPL III starts next week. Last month, BCCI had floated the ITT to kick-start the bidding process for the two additional IPL teams. These teams will join the tournament next year. This is significant because the ITT documents have apparently laid down stiff financial norms for the bidders. These include a minimum bid price of $225 million (around Rs 1,000 crore), up from $50 million for the February 2008 auctions. Additionally, the bidders have to submit a performance bank guarantee of $100 million before March 6 and another bank guarantee of the winning amount. The winning bids for the two new IPL franchises will be announced in Mumbai on Sunday. The two new franchise teams will come from 12 cities, including Pune, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Kanpur, Gwalior, Baroda, Cochin, Indore, Dharamsala, Vizag, Rajkot, and Cuttack."BCCI has sold two-three ITT documents since its announcement. Most interested bidders fully understand the huge investments into the IPL teams but it’s more to do with the pride of owning an IPL team," says an insider. BCCI had made available the ITT documents from February 22. ITT lays down the rules and norms for prospective bidders of the two additional teams that will be added to the existing eight from next year. http://www.financialexpress.com/news/Cos-game-for-IPL-franchises-despite-costly-terms/587039/

Also many are speculating that MCC might have also partnered or bid for the Pune franchisee tough not sure. ViruRulez
Ok just checked the latest news sources. And though many speculations but many are saying that many bidders have now backed out after the conditions. Even Adani group is supposed to have backed out I suppose. Meanwhile Birla and UAE's Emmar properties also supposedly fighting for the Ahmedabad franchisee. Mohanlal also seem to have backed out after the tough conditions as per reports. So, both Adani group and Mohanlal supposed to have backed out already. Many are also saying Sharad Pawar's family has also bid for one of the IPL teams. There are contradicting news reports everywhere right now But from what is evident it seems Ahmedabad is almost sure to get a franchisee as there have been supposedly 7 applications for Ahmedabad alone. Pune is another frontrunner though Nagpur is not far behind too. It seems the cities which I predicted to make the final IPL teams long time ago is getting the teams. ViruRulez
Where is EPl club and MCC ? Also Bidding open on mar 8 (previously announced) I think Bid may even go to >400 mil According to the new IPL rules, only billionaires can bid for the teams. I personally would have liked Sahara to to get one team as they have done a lot for our sports
Arkem8
MCC not bidding for IPL franchise Searching for solace after the IPL slap a Paki runs smack bang right into another conspiracy theory...:finger: Posted by Zaheerahmed on (March 06 2010, 04:46 AM GMT) I am writing this fully aware of the fact that Cricinfo due to its editorial policy of not publishing any comments contrary to the views of Indians wil ignore it. Wise decision by MCC. They know that IPL is short time phenomenon and are well aware of the fact that due to highly controversial personality of Lalit Modi and too much influence of far right Hindu extremists in Indian Cricket IPL will soon die its own natural death. Another interesting angle.. Posted by anurag23bhide on (March 06 2010, 07:38 AM GMT) MCC is a body of old colonial English farts, who will take a decade to come to terms with the latest format of the game and the franchisee structure. They are scared by how what was once a British colony has gone a few miles past them financially. Besides, they definitely dont have the coin to buy a share of a new franchise. The base price of $225 million has had them wetting their pants. http://www.cricinfo.com/ipl2010/content/current/story/450916.html
