How about after Dhoni becoming captain. India has solid experienced' date=' ripened test players. That is why we have improved not because of IPL. IPL stars have a long long way to go.[/quote'] I agree, this only happened for the first time in 30-40 years of Indian cricket history. Coincidentally enough, it happened just about at the same time as the birth of T20.:hatsoff: What is your excuse/reasoning for India being #2 in ODIs? :yay:

Tendulkar, Gambhir, Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj.. none of them really set the IPL on fire. Even though Yusuf Pathan was byproduct of IPL, he debuted for India even before that because of his domestic performance. Every single player who is playing the team earned their place through first class not IPL. R Jadeja picked 42 wickets and scored over 700 runs. Yusuf is coming back only because of his performance in Duleep Trophy. IPL is a T20 game. What is our record in T20? We have lost 4 out of last 5 matches. We improved in ODI and Test because we don't have IPL for that !!

Oh shut up! The people who think performance in test matches can be improved through T20, have no idea about cricket. So Sachin became a great test player because of T20? Dravid became a wall in Indian middle order because of T20? Laxman learnt about those magical wristy shots through T20? Dhoni became India's best keeper batsman through T20? Zaheer learnt to take wickets even in unfriendly subcontinent conditions through T20? Harbhajan took 355 test wickets because he learnt his art in T20? Kumble learnt his leg spin craft through T20? And when was India the worst team in tests since these players were there in the team? If you love cricket, try to understand the difference between the formats.

No it is not taking it too far, especially after having seen how it messed up with Indian domestic cricket schedule. Just because CL ate first 2 weeks and IPL starts from March 12 itself, less than 5 months were available for our domestic cricket tournaments which resulted in getting excessively cramped schedule. During Ranji trophy, there were just the gap of 3 days including the travel time, between the two matches. It put too much of pressure on the players and teams, which generally play 7 FC matches + semi + final + duleep trophy FC matches, were reluctant to go for outright victory as it increased the workload of bowlers with no time to recuperate, hence increasing the chance of injuries. This in turn, skewed the mindset of bowlers who looked to do restrictive bowling rather than thinking of taking a wicket. If this is the way it'll go, India won't produce a single strike bowler, be in pace or spin department, a 5 years from now. Is it not hurting Indian cricket or will hurt it in long run? Because of lack of time, few tournaments have been reduced to joke as if BCCI doesn't care for them and is simply looking for the IPL to arrive. Just look at the Deodhar trophy schedule this year and you'll know. 4 matches in 4 days and the tournament is over. What on earth has Indian cricket gained here? Has its 50 over cricket not been compromised for IPL? Will it not hurt Indian cricket?
Hi Chandan, please tell us names of all strike bowlers India produced in last 20 years, without the restrictive mindsets, and short rest period between ranji trophy games :lmao:

Why just last 20 yesrs, check the entire history. We've had one Kumble who took 619 wickets, Kapil Dev who took 434 wickets, Bedi who took 268 wickets, Srinath who took 236 wickets, Zaheer khan who took 242 wickets, Chandra, took 242 wickets as well, and the much maligned Harbhajan Singh who took 355 wickets. Go and check every country's record. In how many countries, bowlers have taken 350 or more wickets in tests? India has had 3 such bowlers.

But I mean common, that T20 wc win is nothing compared to the performances in Duleep Trophy and Ranji Trophy.:eyedance: T20 wc win :headshake::headshake::headshake::headshake::headshake: Duleep Trophy performances :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:

IPL is a great platform to check our domestic talents at the international level. One can be truly tested when they play against international bowlers and batsmen. Playing domestic cricket is very important but playing good in the IPL is also very important now a days. T20 may not teach one to be completely technically sound but it does teach how to play under immense pressure and the nervous situations.

Whole phenomenon started because Modi wanted to milk as much as possible using one T20 cup win. More importantly it was started mainly to negate ICL which they successfully did. Fact is we have been sliding in T20 format ever since we won the T20 cup final. One format we are supposed to be "very good" at because of IPL.

Kid, read up on India's Test wins in Adelaide 2003 Kolkata 2001 Headingley 2002 Rawalpindi 2004 Jamaica 2006 Wanderers 2006 Port of Spain 2002 instead of coming up with this rubbish about us finding our "peak after introduction of T20".
