Videocon keen on buying Mohali team Videocon are reportedly interested in buying the Mohali IPL team with the promoters setting an asking price of $ 300 million. The franchise, currently co-owned by Dabur's Mohit Burman, Apeejay Surendra's Karan Paul, Bombay Dyeing's Ness Wadia and actress Preity Zinta, is languishing at the bottom of table in this year's IPL and is virtually out of a race for the semi-finals. Sources indicated the final price is likely to rest around $280 million. Reports suggest Videocon's chairman Venugopal Dhoot is eager to buy 'a minority stake in an existing team.' Dhoot revealed to a Indian English daily that negotiations are already underway with the franchise: "We are negotiating the price." The current owners bought the Mohali team in 2008 for $ 76 million (Rs 350 crore). However, Burman denied any plans to sell.

New Delhi: Videocon Industries owner Venugopal Dhoot on Thursday confirmed that he was in talks to buy IPL team Kings XI Punjab that will be put on sale after the end of the tournament. Dhoot said they were in talks and that price was being negotiated. The deal will be sealed once the terms and conditions are agreed upon by both parties, he added. The Punjab IPL team was bought by the four co-owners for USD 76 million in 2008 and is currently being valued at USD 200 million (Rs 1000 crore). The four owners, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, Bombay Dyeing's Ness Wadia, Dabur's Mohit Burman and Apeejay Surendra Group's Karan Paul are planning to exit together and were reportedly looking for a consortium that can buy their stakes. It was earlier reported that the Venugopal Dhoot-led Videocon Industries has floated a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to pick stake in the Kings XI team. Pune-based builder Atul Chordia is also reportedly part of the SPV. Dhoot and Chordia along with actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor had formed a consortium to bid for the Pune franchise at the IPL 4 auction but were unsuccessful.
