Apr 15, 2010 Saina, in Badminton Asia Championships quarters On a day when the Badminton Asia Championships lost an ounce of glamour with men's top seed Taufik Hidayat's exit, Saina Nehwal needed to overcome a tricky hurdle in Julia Pei Xian Wong to maintain the event's marketability. She didn't disappoint, pulling off a 21-14, 21-16 victory. The Malaysian had been her nemesis in the Indian Open last year, but the focused World No. 6's technical prowess overpowered her opponent, and when she had to negotiate a slight bump in the second game, her decision-making was spot on. A line-call at 13-13 did not go her way, but a mentally-strong Saina rolled on to the quarterfinals, where she now will meet Mew Choo Wong, the 7th seed from Malaysia. "50-50," was the prediction as the top seed exempted herself from home pressure.
