don_corleone840
He is definitely effected by age .He is not scoring runs in flattest wicket in world.I doubt he will be able to cross 2 figure mark in pitches lilke england and aus.He should retire instead of dropping his average. Link to comment
VRV Singh
so kneejerk...of course he shouldn't retire :cantstop: Who would you suggest to replace his experience at no.3? Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Silly thread. Averagred just a shade under 50 for last 2 years. Looked superb today, middled everyting and oozed class, just got out, that happens. Had one series with low scores and the vultures are out!!!! The guy is a legend and has been superb, give him a break! Also whats all ths clap track about the difficult eng/aus tracks!!! Lords is a draw fest these days, just cos pak batting collapses cos they are pathetic it makes the tracks great now all of a sudden. They are as flat as others. Indias last 4 tests in India have produced 4 results, whats all the flat track nonsense!! Lazy pathetic sterotypes which have no basis in reality. Even SL tracks are ok. Yes 2nd track was pathetic. But test 1 produced a result and this track is a great cricket track and will produce a result. Cricket last 2 days has been thrilling. It seems coconuts on this forum cant think a test match is good without bumble and the sky sports commentary team. Link to comment

Offcource he is a legend.he according to me is fourth best batsman india ever produced after sachin, gavaskar and sehwag. What i am saying is that by playing more and more in this age , he is actually ruining his record.his average was 59 in 2006 and now itss 53.this shows that last 3-4 years have been below par. vvvslaxman
Dravid is never a great success in Srilankan conditions. I don't think he ever had a great series in SL. I would swap his position with Laxman's position in Srilanka. Link to comment
putrevus
His last overseas 100 other than Bangladesh was in 2006 in west Indies, he has played in SA,Eng,NZ Aus, SL twice. The wall is not performing according his standards in last 4 years and It has put lot of pressure on middle order. He bats at No3 and zero overseas hundreds in 4 years not acceptable for man of his stature. Link to comment

Usually it would take an extremely good delivery to get rid of Dravid. Nowadays far too many soft dismissals which has decreased his reliability. Link to comment
Lord
I agree hes out of touch, but lets not jump the gun on the basis of one series.he was good in BD n was terrific in the last series against SL wen they toured Link to comment
sudheer kumar
Rahul dravid should not retire now. Where is replacement for him? Look at options... Pujara- scoring in domestic cricket but in international cricket we can't believe his batting. Kohli - not consistent Rohit - Lazy player Y Pathan - if he replace dravid.. what a joke it is So Rahul should continue another 2 years... in this period these players should mature. Link to comment
Kumar
if Ricky ponting a player who hasnt been anything of great these past few years hasnt retired, I see no hurry in Dravid leaving!! Link to comment
achilles
And promote the Raina's & Pujara's of the world to that position? I don't agree with you. Even Murali Vijay got a few games before being discarded by the selectors (in ODIs). This is Rahul Dravid we are talking about here. Link to comment

Pujara has never been given a chance how will we know if he is any good, He has scored runs where ever he has played , but you cannot expect him to bat at no3 in SA to start his career. He needs to get his chance in next five test matches at home either with NZ or Aussies. one of Dravid's main contributions to Indian Team is his scoring runs overseas because of his superior technique which somehow has failed him for last 4 years. Andy
Only if he continues to keep playing shots at deliveries that are meant for, he should play. Like the innings of today. Link to comment
putrevus
if Ricky ponting a player who hasnt been anything of great these past few years hasnt retired' date=' I see no hurry in Dravid leaving!![/quote'] Ricky Ponting is the captain and I am surprised with double standards Aussies have towards Ponting. They could not wait to kick Steve Waugh out,who by the way saved a test match in his last innings. but points for Ponting he is not a liability on field like dravid who can only field at slips there also he is dropping too many catches. saneindian
LOL Didn't we miss him when we played SA in the 1st test of the last series? He's never had much success in tests in Sri Lanka and this time has proved to be no different.Always happens. Has got 4 100s and 5 50s in his last 11 tests for a total of 1110 runs at an avg of 66!! Why should he retire now? Link to comment
