Why do tails wag these days

Almost every time, tail of most teams contribute. Heck tailenders were high scorers for Padosis Tail saved England twice against Saffers. Tail won the game at Sydney when aussies looked down and out. Tail scored crucial runs in Perth, Nagpur against Aussies. What has changed?? I think its due to mindset of captains. They seem to be defensive more so when specialist batsman is batting at the other end.

A combination of some factors : 1. Tailenders putting in much more work in their batting. 2. Lack of emphasis of planning out dismissals for tailend batsmen. 3. Depleted bowling attacks - lack of genuine pace/reverse swing bowlers and top level spinners who could run through tails. 4. Better batting conditions. 5. Protective gear.

In a couple of years time, the title of this thread will be; Why is the Pakistani top-order wag these days?
I love your replies. I read them completely, from the first word to the last. But the short ones aren't funny. Sorry to break it to you, man. They are hilarious.

Bowlers across the world are generally pretty average...fewer genuine pacemen who can 'clean up tails' ...york the lower order batters out... 15 years ago, the top teams had a at least one world class paceman
Agree...I dont think a Dale Steyn would have let a Ajantha Jaundice bat for so long!
