someone
The biggest problem is it is 5 days after the world cup. So a lot depends on how India performs, if we fail, again critics and people will criticize IPL for its bad influence . While if we win, no one will have any problem. Mamu
A format that I had suggested long long long ago !! Except I did not suggest the Super Six and I still think that is redundant And I hope that goes away. Make it like MLB --- Semis straight away

ludhianvi
League phase Every team will play the same number of league games (14, seven home and seven away) as in previous seasons with the following break-up: each team will play the other four in its group both home and away (eight matches), four of the teams in the other group once (four matches, either home or away) and the remaining team in the other group twice, both home and away. A random draw will decide the composition of the groups as well as who plays whom across the groups once and twice. A bit strange. If it was only playing all the teams from the other group once, they could've furthered decreased the total matches by ~ 9 matches, so total of only 65 matches. Plus, it doesnt make sense to play just one team randomly twice from the other group just to make sure that the number of games played in the league phase are the same as previous editions i.e 14. Playoffs The teams that finish first and second in the league table will contest the first playoff, which is effectively a semi-final (Game A). The teams that finish third and fourth will play each other in a knockout that is effectively a quarter-final (Game B). The loser of Game A will play the winner of Game B in a match (Game C) that will decide the second finalist that will play the winner of Game A in the grand final. This playoff format was previously used in New Zealand's domestic one-day tournament last season. Another strange/new concept. So the team that loses Game A could still win the cup :) In a way it rewards the top 2 ranked teams by giving them a second chance to win the cup.
