Fergie why did u do this. :wall: 20 ? More like 11. There is no denying that he was an incredible player for Manchester United (still is), but let's look at the facts. By selling him, Man Utd are now able to play a more free-flowing, attacking style of football with more cut and thrust. The kind of football which brought the team to prominence back in the 90's. The way they are building a lead atop of the league table right now while Chelsea have already lost twice proves that they can play better football without Van Nistelrooy. A few weeks ago, they destroyed 3rd place Bolton at the Reebok 0-4...a performance which Alan Hansen rated as the best he'd ever seen from Man Utd in the last 5 years. You really can't complain. In recent years, despite the fact that Ruud was banging the goals in - Man Utd were becoming overly dependent on him and a lot of their play was intended to go through him...this kind of strategy simply wasn't that effective. Last season when Saha was scoring in every game right after the winter-break, Ruud began whining about not getting enough playing time and didn't want to EARN his place in the side. He was given an ultimatum by Ferguson, and chose to leave. Nothing wrong with that decision at all, because no player is ever bigger than the team. Sooda
Re: Can we have Ruud Van Nistelrooy back please ^what he said Saha is class But I cant believe he wanted to send Alan Smith off on loan- Ok hes not in the best of form but its not like they blessed with a hatful of fit strikers. Predator_05
Re: Can we have Ruud Van Nistelrooy back please Yeah, that's a serious problem for Man Utd. Not just strikers. Their squad is paper thin, and lot of the peripheral players have gone out on loan so that the Glazers can get them off their wage-bill. No depth whatsoever. One or two injuries to key players, a few suspensions here and there and Chelsea will cut down whatever lead they have. That's why i can't see Man Utd winning the league this season...although they will definately give it a good go.
Captain of Bhangra
Re: Can we have Ruud Van Nistelrooy back please He scored 4 fukkin goals in a match this week, and it hurt me like crazy. I never wanted him out, he will be remembered as our best player this decade (unless Rooney fulfills his promise by 2010)...
