coffee_rules
in Bad light that is. It looks like Indian batsman had to survive Steyn and Morkel in bad light while Kallis and ABDV had to resign for Tendulkar and Harbhajan. It is not fair, I didn't see the match yesterday, but it looks there is a cause for Indians to whinge because it seems like Indian batman got a bad deal in the bad light stakes. Link to comment
Asoka
Nowadays captains have no say regarding light. It's all down to the on field umpires. They take the light meter reading at which play is stopped on the 1st/2nd/whatever day there is light problem and this reading is followed for the remaining days of the test match,it is consistent throughout. For eg in this match say on the 1st day when bad light stopped play, the reading of the light meter was X units ,X is taken as a standard for the remaining match. On subsequent days, whenever that X is reached they stop play.
