Japanese companies using ‘banishment rooms’ to push employees to resign

Basically, banishment rooms are departments where companies transfer surplus employees and give them menial or useless tasks or even nothing to do until they become depressed or disheartened enough to quit on their own, thus not getting full benefits, unlike if they were actually let go

Item girl Rakhi Sawant claims she is a virgin.

"I was born and brought up in a middle-class family, where the rules were very strict. My dad, who was a policeman, always told me, do what you want to do, but only after marriage. When I get married and have a partner, I will do it," she said. When told that this fact was hard to believe considering she was in a live-in relationship with her ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi, she said, "Yes I had a boyfriend, but the rules were different. Mujhe sex karne ka waqt hi nahi mila. See my record — I have done comedy, tragedy and reality shows. And now also I have so much to do, main soun ya kaam karun?" the motormouth asked, adding that even if she has time now, there is no one deserving enough for her. "I am waiting for the right person in my life. People wonder how can I be a virgin, considering I am a film personality. But I believe that if I work hard enough, nobody will ask for sex. Even when I do it, I will do it for myself and not to bag a project," she added.

Man elopes with mother of fiancee CHENNAI: The Pallikaranai police are looking for a 25-year-old man who allegedly eloped with the mother of the woman he was to marry later this month. The construction worker, who often visited the house of his fiancee after the engagement, got attracted to the older woman and the two began a relationship that culminated in their running away, police said. Parthasarathy, a native of Tindivanam who lived in Kovilambakkam near Pallikaranai, got engaged to an 18-year-old woman in the same area about two months ago. The girl's father Sekar, 38, and mother Vasantha, 35, were construction labourers working in the locality and got to know of Parthasarathy and the match was fixed. Soon, Parthasarathy became a frequent visitor to his fiancee's house and began mingling closely with all her family members. Vasantha was apparently taken in by his good behaviour and he began to present her with gifts, police said. They gradually became close to one another. Vasantha often skipped work and stayed at home and Parthasarathy came to meet her. A few days ago, Vasantha's daughter allegedly found the two of them together in an intimate position, investigators said. That evening, soon after Sekar returned from work, the girl told him about it. A day after the incident, Vasantha went missing. A subsequent check revealed that Parthasarathy was also missing. Sekar then lodged a complaint with the Pallikaaranai police who registered a case and launched a hunt for the two. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chennai/Man-elopes-with-mother-of-fiancee/articleshow/22408337.cms :blink::ohmy:

Montana newlywed 'shoved husband' to death off cliff A Montana newlywed has been charged with murder after admitting she shoved her husband off a cliff eight days into their marriage, authorities say. Jordan Linn Graham, 22, appeared in a federal court on Monday charged with Cody Johnson's death on 7 July. Police say Ms Graham initially lied about what happened that evening. She reported her 25-year-old husband missing the next day. Her lawyer declined to comment to the Associated Press news agency. Johnson's family had called for an investigation after his body was recovered by helicopter below a steep viewpoint known as the Loop, in Glacier National Park on 12 July. 'Fell face first' According to an FBI affidavit, in an initial interview on 9 July Ms Graham told police she had received a text from her husband that he was going for a drive with a friend. But, she said, both her and her husband usually deleted their texts, and so she could not show police the message in question. Two days later she was the first to report finding her husband's dead body. A park ranger told her it was unusual that she had found the body, according to the affidavit. "It was a place he wanted to see before he died," she allegedly replied. According to the sworn statement, a copy of which was reproduced in the Missoulian newspaper, on 16 July she admitted having lied to police about her husband's death. She is said to have told investigators that the couple had been arguing when they agreed to go to the hiking trail at the Loop, where their bickering worsened. Johnson grabbed her arm before she removed his hand, and "due to her anger, she pushed Johnson with both hands in the back, and as a result, he fell face first off the cliff", says the affidavit. The accused had doubts about her week-old marriage, according to text messages she allegedly sent to a friend on the night Johnson died. She wrote that she was "having second thoughts about having been married", the FBI said. That night, she texted the friend that she was about to talk to her husband. "But dead serious if u don't hear from me at all again tonight, something happened," Ms Graham wrote, according to the affidavit.

Chinese doctor builds new nose on man's forehead

212aadb4b701a6203e0f6a706700c577.jpg
BEIJING (AP) — A surgeon in China says he has constructed an extra nose out of a man's rib cartilage and implanted it under the skin of his forehead to prepare for a transplant in probably the first operation of its kind. Surgeon Guo Zhihui at Fujian Medical University Union Hospital in China's southeastern province of Fujian spent nine months cultivating the graft for a 22-year-old man whose nose was damaged. The striking images of the implant — with the nostril section facing diagonally upward on the left side of the man's forehead — drew widespread publicity after they began to circulate in Chinese media this week. Guo plans to cut the nose from the forehead while leaving a section of skin still connected, and then rotate and graft it into position in a later operation. "We were just interested in helping the man and did not expect it would stir up this much attention," Guo said in an interview Friday with The Associated Press. Surgeons previously have used cartilage to help rebuild noses in their proper position and are experimenting with growing new ones from stem cells on other parts of the body, such as a forearm. But this was the first known case of building a nose on a forehead. Alexander Seifalian, a professor of nanotechnology and regenerative medicine at University College London who has worked on transplants using stem cells, said implanting the nose graft in the forehead makes sense because the skin there has the same "structure and texture" as that of a nose. However, he said it was unclear why the Chinese team built the nose on the forehead rather than in its proper position. A nose graft grown from stem cells would be prepared on another body part first, but this operation is using existing cartilage, Seifalian said. "They could have made the nose and just put it on the nose, not in the forehead," Seifalian said. "I don't know why they put it there." However, Seifalian noted that he had not seen any scientific information on the Chinese operation and was just going by media reports. The patient lost part of his nose in an accident in August 2012 and did not immediately have any reconstruction surgery because he couldn't afford it, Guo said. An infection later ate away much of his nose cartilage, he said. Guo said his team examined what remained of the nose and concluded there would be little chance of viably grafting cartilage there, instead building the nose on the forehead. When the new nose is rotated into position and grafted, it will at first have its own blood supply from links to the forehead, before developing new blood vessels. Later surgery will smooth out all of the skin. The team first expanded skin on the man's forehead for more than three months before using rib cartilage to build the nose bridge. Lastly, Guo's team built the nostrils. "We sculpted the nose three-dimensionally, like carpenters," he said.

I also have some doubts now. Video clearly shows that it hasn't been shot from stationary camera, as it should have been in case of recordings from CCTV. You can clearly see frame is moving slightly in between. That shouldn't happen if it is CCTV.

TomTato = Tomato + Potato I4Ky1cyTuzk#t=30 It sounds like something out of a futuristic film: the TomTato. Developed by horticulturists in the U.K., the plant is a gardening oddity that produces cherry tomatoes on its vines and potatoes underground. Two vegetables on one plant at the same time! It's the Frankenstein of plants. The Frankenplant? The two plants are grafted together, and are offered in the U.K. by the Thompson & Morgan company. The less catchy-sounding Potato Tom is also available in New Zealand. An infomercial-style video shows a successful example bursting with juicy tomatoes and spuds. According to the BBC, this is not the first time a plant of this type has been developed, but “taste had previously been a problem.” “In the past we've never had any faith in the plants - they've not been very good ― but grafting has come on leaps and bounds in recent years,” Guy Barter of the Royal Horticultural Society told the BBC. The proof may be in the tomato ― and potato ― dish. But Thompson & Morgan director Paul Hansord said that this dynamic duo of gardening was 10 years in the making is now ready for prime time. In the video, the plant is promised to bear tomatoes that are “sugary yet tangy” and yield “delicious white potatoes.” The tomatoes and potatoes ripen at the same time, according to CBS. But the TomTato, which can be planted in a plot or a pot, lasts only one season. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/tomtato-combines-two-plants-into-one-231215239.html

The punishment was death by stoning. The crime? Having a mobile phone http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/special-report-the-punishment-was-death-by-stoning-the-crime-having-a-mobile-phone-8846585.html

Arifa Bibi's uncle, cousins and others hurled stones and bricks at her until she died, according to media reports. She was buried in a desert far from her village. It's unlikely anyone was arrested. Her case is not unique. Stoning is legal or practised in at least 15 countries or regions. And campaigners fear this barbaric form of execution may be on the rise, particularly in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq.

^ I could never understand this line of argument. Whats the connection between a stoning incident and drone strikes? Are you trying to say that if we can find one set of evils, another set of evils can be just be justified? Is it your opinion that since we have news of woman stoned to death, no one should be complaining about drones killing innocent people?

Of course, two wrongs do not make a right and drone strikes on innocent people are deplorable but there are people who try to justify these tactics by reciting out of context statements in 100 year old books.

9-year-old UK schoolgirl enters Turkey using toy passport PTI | Jun 13, 2013, 06.25PM IST* LONDON: A nine-year-old British schoolgirl managed to get past Turkish customs officers with a toy passport identifying her as a unicorn. Emily Harris, from Cwmbran, South Wales, had taken the toy passport she had made for her pink toy unicorn on holiday with her. When the family passed through customs at Antalya airport to start their one-week holiday, Emily's mom Nicky accidentally handed over the toy's passport, instead of her daughter's, 'The Daily Express' reported. However, the parents were shocked when they later realised their mistake - and discovered passport officials had even stamped the unicorn's passport. The passport is quite obviously a fake, Nicky said, pointing out that it is not only a completely different size and shape to the official document, but that it also has gold teddy bears on the front. "The man even asked Emily how old she was, and she told him nine, before he stamped it," Nicky said. "The picture ID wasn't even of Emily, it was of a pink unicoryn," she said. It was only when they got outside that Nicky realised that instead of handing in Emily's passport, she had shown her daughter's Bear Factory passport for a unicorn toy called Lily Harris. "We saw the funny side, and laughed at the fact that the officer had even stamped the passport. But at the same time, it's a worry to any parent, how easy it would be to smuggle a child through customs and into another country." :hysterical: http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-06-13/uk/39950548_1_passport-officials-unicorn-toy
