Blitz, boom, bash, bosh. Bring them on

38.6 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, What an over. Ends with a flourish, down the ground and plasters it back over the bowler's head for a huge hit. 446666 - the second most expensive over in one-dayers. Only behind Herschelle Gibbs. Blitz, boom, bash, bosh. Bring them on 38.5 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, Miscued and that's six more, he tries to whack it over long-on but the thick edge howitzers over long-off for another six. The fielder can't get to it 38.4 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, And this is bigger, much bigger. Thrash, bang, wallop. Similar formula, down the ground and blasts it way over extra cover for a huge six. That's massive. Thunder bolts flying around now 38.3 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, Shot of the day must be, a flat-batted six to beat all flat-batted hits. Flatter this time and he charges again, tonks it sensationally through extra-cover for a six. Boom boom boom Over the wicket this time 38.2 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, change of angle matters a little now. It's tossed up and Afridi arrives, even before the ball is delivered, and creams it down the ground for a blistering four. Straight and hard - the best way we guess. Boom boom around the wicket from Bandara now 38.1 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, This is too easy now, Bandara flights it outside off and Afridi jumps down the track yet again, tries to go over cover but the thickish outside edge flies away over point for a four. Boom boom
Does this guy knows to bat or not?

Well expect a string of low Well expect a string of low scores from the slogger in the next 10 games  He's a good entertainer all right but just not good enough to be played as a specialist batter in any form of cricket. Use him as a pinch hitter and he will get runs once in 10-20 games like this.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, but credit where it's due, that knock was match winning. Pakistan were in trouble when he came in and a few overs later, Pak were on course for a win.

These days he has turned in to a bowler who bats(slogs) and even if he goes through a patch of low scores it's still worth having him in the team because batting is not his primary objective.

Sure thing he is well worth his place in the Pakistan ODI team as a bowling all rounder. No doubts he is one of the most explosive batter going around in world cricket but to expect him to keep scoring every game or even to line him up as a batter will be disaster. I've seen he is pushed to open if he gets couple of fifties and then the low string of scores starts. I have lost count how many times in the recent years he has been counted upon as a match winner and the number of times he has been dropped from the team. I personally would not get excited and call him a main stream batter. He is effective and take the game away from the opponent real quick but his days with bat are far and few. Credit where its due for sure, he does this often it ain't funny anymore. I still remember the way he belted Bhajji all over the park in Pakistan (was that 5 6s in a row?)
