satyam1729
So we should go with 7 batsman and never make your batting line up short. Link to comment

ViruRulez
:fail: thread I would rather go for 8 + 3 combination and drop Munaf to bring in YP instead of reducing one more bat .. Batting is our strength and we need to use it to its full potential Link to comment

rahulrulezz
Exactly my point.. It jus pisses me off when those dictionary fanss here(like rett etcc) keep on BSing that we need to play with 5 bowlers (3 pacers + Ashwin +Bhaaji)... They keep on harping that if 6 batsmen can't win, 7th cant.. Thats pure BULL$H!T.... As Dhoni said, if 4 bowlers can't win you the match, 5th cant either... 7 batsmen in a team is a MUST Link to comment
youngindia
Its a good thread actually...because there has been talk of five bowlers here as if its going to be magic pill for our lac of bowling prowess and the chief culprits of this idea have been gavaskar and ravi shastri. here is vettor's gameplan from his own mouth. "We were desperate to get into that middle to lower order; that was our whole game plan, do whatever we can to get down there. It was always about getting past AB de Villiers. Their top four has proven themselves over a long, long time. They've got fantastic records, and I thought if we could break through that, particularly getting down to No. 6 and Botha at No. 7 meant they had a longish tail. The whole talk while we were out there and before the game was just to take wickets.""" sound strategy from the kiwis. they noticed the oppositions weakest link and went hard at it. its foolish to think if you had a longish tail , the opposition won't notice that. rkt.india
if 4 bowlers are not quality what will fifth do. If the fifth bowler is that good that he must play he must be in first four itself...five bowlers means five good quality bowlers..we cannot play 5 bowlers just to fill the overs and places in the team...when our main seamer is bowling as good as our part timer than its not wise play a bowler who is not good enough, cant bat, bowl, or field.. You should have this 7+4 or 6+5 dilemma when you have 5 quality bowlers sitting on your bench. A far as the present Indian team is concerned, its 7+4 always. Link to comment
