Questions for Srinath

Srinath will be dropping by at our home either today or tomorrow and if he is happy to oblige he may answer questions you may have for him. Please be sure not to post questions pertaining to his duties as ICC Match referee, Indian team and its players. Any questions pertaining to his career may get an answer. Srinath is appointed to oversee NZ v SL in the capacity of ICC match referee.

Re: Questions for Srinath Excellent... My first question, 1) why did he retire when he was peak of his career? Look at McGrath..bowling at age of 37. Sri would have been as good even at lower pace.. 2) What is his most cherish bowling performance

Why does he think tht inspite of being a genuine quickie who clocked 150+, he does not get the same credit as certain wannabes like Gillespie who hover around the 140 mark... 2. Among our current set of Munaf, Sreesanth, IKP, VRV, who is in for the long haul.... too many seamers have fallen by the wayside... 3. Why did he never try to master the yorker or did he? 4. If given another chance, would he have done something differently in the 2003 WC finals?

Re: Questions for Srinath What does he think about Dada being in the team, in his view he has still got it or just dragging along? Why do indian bowlers spray around more than let us say aussie. Even their rookie has discipline may not be talented but discipline seems to be the common feature in their team.

I mean we share the same soil...the same climate and the same physique profile....then why is it that Pak can produce brilliant bowlers...and we cant ?

Re: Questions for Srinath tht even i can answer, Rajeev.... it is money... it is well known, tht if u bowl real fast, ur career is only so much.... to give an example..... srinath and kumble started at the same time.... kumble is still playing while srinath retired 3-4 yrs back... and not counting more time lost for srinath in injuries..... imran khan played from 1971 until 1992... tht is 21 years... he has only 80 odd tests to show for it.... the rest explains itself...

Re: Questions for Srinath questions for J.Srinath 1) What do you think about the Indian infrastructure (pertaining to domestic level cricket and its development); why is it not as comparable as English or Aussie domestic circuit. 2) Why is it that every once in a while we get great young bowlers and then they lose their skills(or their niche) that make them the world's best; is it their mentality or is it something physical. (Example, Zaheer Khan, Balaji, and now Pathan) 3) If you could change something right now what would you change so that Indian team performs better now and in the future after some of our greats retire.

What did you find special about them and what was their impact on a budding young speedster like you? 2. Based on all Indian pace bowlers that you have seen/played alongside who would you like to be your new ball partner? 3. What was one weapon missing from your arsenal? A delivery that you wished you had. 4. Why has India never dominated cricket? If you could pick one answer for that question what would it be? 5. What was your favorite ground to bowl at. Also did you prefer the new ball? Or the old one? Or a ball that was between 10-20 overs old?

Tell him he bowled too short and too many four-balls.........30 runs per wicket.............236 wickets.........not in the top frame of quicks by a long way. Gator........he bowled too short consistently, that is why he could not bowl yorkers a la Waqar and Brett Lee !

Re: Questions for Srinath Yody...........YES.........it's always a good idea to cut your pace for line and length. Line and length beats wayward pace any day !! Of course, the ultimate goal is Line and Length PLUS Pace !!
