Being in the csk camp, i cannot complain much. vijay, srikanth, badrinath, ashwin, yomahesh will play a role with mukund possibly inthe near future.only karthik is missing. but lookin at the other teams, the local stars have gone for the money. bangalore does not have dravid, uthappa, manish . i am not sure about amit verma. DC also does not have the talented hyderabadis. Mumbai will miss abhishek nayar and rahane. pune, who is from pune?? KKR apart from tiwary too barely has any bengali as a sure starter. punjab, their kingpin is gone. Are the locals supposed to identify with their franchise when their local stars are missing? delhi-gambhir ,ishant and kohli are elsewhere! its better if the franchsies ship the locals to their home sides next year.

You can see the gradual transition in the IPL franchizes’ focus as the years have gone on. In 2008, their main thrust was to get the marquee players, or the ‘icon’ players, as it was known then. All the teams wanted to gain some credibility with the fans and media alike and so established Indian stars like Sachin, VVS, Ganguly, Dravid, Yuvraj, MSD were in huge demand. Plus, the teams also wanted to retain at least a semblance of a home-grown feel. So Dada went to KKR, Viru/Gauti to Delhi, Yuvraj to Punjab, VVS to DC and Sach to MI. But the results didn’t come their way. For the 2nd round of auctions, all the franchize owners have pretty much given up on having a hometown feel to their and have gone for players who they think will serve them well. CSK has been the lone standout though. Of course, MSD and Raina are undoubtedly the backbone of the team, but over time, there have been many vital contributions from guys like Ashwin, Badri, Vijay, Balaji and Srikkanth. If anything, the prominence of local stars in CSK has grown with time. During last year’s Champions league T20, Vijay was the leading run-scorer and Ashwin the leading wicket taker. It couldn’t get any better than that. It’s a pity we lost Balaji though. It would have been nice if they could have snaffled Karthik in the auctions. He would have made a handy lower order finisher for the team.

bangalore has a pretty strong local side.they shud augmented it with a few "outside resources" mallya thought the previous bunch failed and wanted to start over.not wise. mumbai could have still had a strong side.delhi has strong locals now. but the other teams are constrained because the ranji teams are not so good.

:hysterical::hysterical: Rich coming from a franchise which has benefited the most from non locals - Dhoni and Raina.
CL T20 2010; Top run-scorer – Murali Vijay To wicket-taker – Ravichandran Ashwin. :phehehe: Btw, whats the name of the franchize from Lucknow? Oh wait, you haven’t even got one.. :hahaha:
