Indian mentality: Not to praise our bowlers, like we do to batsmen.

Recommended Posts

It is not a secret that we Indians like batting, if not all, most of us. Even when we used to play in our backyards, Most relished batting, and bowling was a bit like a punishment for us. But the problem is why we never appreciate our bowlers despite of doing well, we will not give credit to them. I wrote this because of an incident happened yesterday after MI vs PWI match. Abu Nechim bowled well. He generated pace and was in good areas most of the times. Then there was a program on CNN-IBN where ex-MUmbai selector said, he didn't do anything special. He was bowling like he bowls in domestic and has taken 65 wickets in 20 odd FC matches. He was expecting him to bowl Anaconda delivery? He said Pune lost because their batsmen were overawed by the situation. I do not think these players were all debutantes. Instead of praising him of doing well in his first game this season, he was talking rubbish. And he is the selector who never chose Paul Valthaty to play any FC game for Mumbai.

effing selectors. Think most fans like backing our strengths. Not that different from the pakis who swear by their bowing. Their biggest cricketing heros were bowlers hence.... Is there some deeper cultural bias? Something to do with the colonial gora sahebs standing in one place and batting and the coolies doing the feeding (bowling) and random running about the field? :idunno:

Well if he is not that special why pick him and why play him in the match, these pussies don't want to appreciate Talent because of personal interests, nothing more nothing less. But thankfully it is not a single person's verdict these days, as IPL has bought players to a Wider Spectrum of visibility, hence if Paul Valthathy keeps playing the way he is , he may be selected for the indian team, without the consent of these pussies who think otherwise.

It is a combination of various factors. One is pitch. Other one is when you have batsmen to rack high scores most of the time bowlers just don't bowl with full intensity. When they defend small totals they really know they have to step up. They suddenly become switched on.
Another is generally speaking Indians are lazy. Wasnt there an essay by Ramchandra Guha regarding this? Amongst other reason why cricket became popular in India was because it is slow, well paced, relaxed atmoshere game that fits into our lifestyle. Thats also supposed to be another reason why India has become good in IT. Lot of brain used in a rather sedentary atmosphere. Lot of generalization there of course
