Shouldn't these players take a few days off in the IPL? Shouldn't international cricket > toontee toontee ?
No. The future of cricket is only in India so we have to strengthen the game to appeal to our masses. International cricket is bollox.

U are either Karthik or Varun in disguise, otherwise find it hard to justify those inclusions

For the ODI series: - Gambhir - Kohli - Pujara / Karthik / Uthappa / .... - Yuvi - Raina - Dhoni - YP - Ashwin - PK - Nehra (if fit) / Yadav / Varun - Munaf

I hope you don't mean IPL. There's cricket world outside of India too and around 200-300 million more cricket fans. IPL is a domestic tournament and good for only Indian public. Nothing can ever over-take International cricket. On the topic, I wonder how India Test team would do without Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman.

wtf? if we go by this logic... australia wouldnt have ruled the game for a decade plus. If a player is scared of getting injured let him go work on his fitness.
We're not the Australia of 10 yrs back, i thought that was obvious. What was our bowling like without Zaheer in SA ? What's the point of behaving like an invincible when you're not one.

if you send this team they will loose all the test matches against windies . mark my words . I see national duties to be more important than IPL .
jk .. but they're playing the IPL. They'll carry on until they break down by the looks of it. Who knows, this could be the squad against England :haha:

If they want rest, they should take it now because they are anyway playing some silly domestic matches. Can't allow the players to rest during international matches. It tells a lot about the messed up priorities of our players

Sachin should retire from ODI cricket. He has reached his peak and this is the best moment to retire. Play more test matches along with VVS No point playing only few matches in a year and skip most other matches. Thats going to disturb the team combination and players positions keeps shifting just to accommodate Sachin at the top. Gambhir Sehwag Kohli Yuvraj Raina Dhoni Pathan Ashwin Praveen Munaf Some new promising bowler and not that garbage sreesanth the dart thrower has to be DROPPED, not that sugar coated resting business

None of the test regulars should play the ODIs in the Windies. Go with something like this - Rohit Uthappa Kohli Yuvraj Raina Yusuf KKD Pravin Kumar Ashwin Munaf Nehra Then for the tests Sehwag Gambhir Dravid Tendulkar Laxman Pujara Dhoni Harbhajan Zaheer Ishant Sreesanth

Dhoni and seniors may skip WI ODI series: BCCI Sources Dhoni and seniors may skip WI ODI series: BCCI Sources Several of India's senior cricketers, as well as skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, are expected to miss out the forthcoming One-Day series against the West Indies early June. By now worn out by a jam-packed international calendar, the senior players want to take a break. A BCCI source at zenith said that it is probable that at least five-six senior players possibly will be rested since India has a frantic international schedule further on. Although some senior players might miss out only the ODI series, others who have injury troubles in recent times may choose to opt out of the complete tour of the West Indies where they play solitary Twenty20 International, five ODIs and three Tests throughout the tour commencing on June 4. Opening batsman Virender Sehwag is expected to overlook the entire tour of the West Indies to recover complete strength, whereas further senior players like Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh may be given rest in a phased manner. It is learnt that several senior players have by now written to the BCCI expressing their wish to miss out the tour of the West Indies so that they are in shape as much as necessary for the vital tours of England and Australia later on in the year. India has a frenzied international schedule this year. Straight away after the enduring Indian Premier League, India will tour the West Indies for five ODIs and three Tests, followed by a prolonged tour of England in July-August. England will then arrive to India for a One-Day series in November and West Indies will tag along for a three-Test and five ODI series. The Indians then tour to Australia for a prestigious series in December-January. If the senior cricketers are rested, several of the players who have done well in the current IPL like Paul Valthaty of Kings XI Punjab and Ambati Ryudu of Mumbai Indians may perhaps get a prospect. There is also assumption that Yuvraj Singh, who has been in wonderful form and named the player of the tournament in the World Cup, could be named skipper in the absence of Dhoni and other senior players. When contacted, BCCI Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty said that he was not conscious about senior players wanting to miss out the ODI series against the West Indies. "I am not aware. So, I can't comment," Shetty said. on the other hand, BCCI sources said that is nearly confident that a few senior players would pull out of the series and they would write to the BCCI in due course of time. http://www.criclounge.com/news/2513/Dhoni-and-seniors-may-skip-WI-ODI-series-BCCI-Sources.html

How airheaded the BCCI are for the crazy schedule. The ODIs vs England in Nov are totally unecessary. ODIs in WI this summer are too, and we could have had a 4 day warm up match vs a WI Board XI instead. Then a longer break prior to Eng tour...sadly they have only $$$ and not players interests at heart. The IPL is not going anywhere we can accept that so lets compensate elsewhere by getting rid of meaningless ODIs and Intl t20s...
