shailesh
Pathan is out (cricketnext) : Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has been declared fit to play in the first Test against South Africa starting from December 15 in Johannesburg. Dravid had fractured the middle finger of his right hand during the third One-Dayer against the South Africans at Cape Town. He had missed the last two ODIs, India's first Twenty20 international and the warm-up match against Rest of South Africa due to the injury. Meanwhile Irfan Pathan?s good show with the bat in the warm-up match against Rest of South Africa at Potchefstroom failed to hide his poor bowling form and the team management decided to leave him out of the playing XI. Rohan495
Re: India v SA - 1st Test bad decision. I still dont understand this. Just because Ganguly is in the team, doesnt mean he automatically gets a spot just like that, when a he scores a hundred and 40, and takes a wickt, how can he be left out? Ganguly scored 81 and then gets out on a duck. Pathan would be the allrounder of the team better than Ganguly. Link to comment
Dhondy
Re: India v SA - 1st Test India will pay for their inability to take hard decisions and leave out non-performers. I'll be cheering SA all the way. Link to comment

shailesh
Re: India v SA - 1st Test it depends on what Pathan's primary role is? as far as I know it has been bowling and taking wickets. any runs on top of that is a bonus. If he is not bowling well it's fair that VRV is preferred. Now Pathan has scored runs in the practice game but is one performance enough to leave out a specialist batsman (even if he is Ganguly) for a test match? Yes Pathan may get us some runs but is it worth the cost we will pay as a result of his current bowling form? Link to comment
The_Black_Prince
Re: India v SA - 1st Test I don't know why you guys are surprised. Pathan was always going to be out, once Sourav and VVS came back. The side as I see it and barring Patel's injury, is the best that India can play in the circumstances. Link to comment

The_Black_Prince
Re: India v SA - 1st Test Maaaan.........I am surprised you guys don't know. The moniker "Master Blaster" was coined in Richards honor. He was also called "Smokin Joe" for the way he exploded against bowlers. Indian fans and journalists later borrowed the title to honor Sachin in his glory years. Link to comment

Predator_05
Re: India v SA - 1st Test He was also called "Smokin Joe" for the way he exploded against bowlers. What a load of bullsh*t. "Smokin Joe" was a moniker coined by Joe Frazier, not Viv Richards. Getcha facts raaaaaaaaaaight mon. Link to comment
