Sidhoni
Sri Lankan cricket will be in a completely awful state after 2-3 years from now, with Sanga, Mahela, Dilshan,Samarweera all retiring, maybe Dilshan will stay till the next world cup, and Murali has already retired. If we look at the future prospects, welegadera and kulasekra are only good pacers they have, while in the Spin dept., Mendis looks ordinary once the batsmen have got used to him and Herath and Randiv are better bowlers than him, The batting dept. will be extremely weak compared to the present one or maybe even weaker when Jayasurya played fr Sri Lanka. Your views guys?? Link to comment
Cricket Tragic
They've got good batting tailunt. Chandimal and Thirimanne should take over from Sanga and Lady. The bowling is definitely a concern. Link to comment
CoverDrive
Yes they are going to struggle but Sanga and Mahela shoudl stretch about 3-4 years more. In the last few years the second rung has not stepped up. Like of Chamara Silva etc. have been way dissapointing. Matthews has been the only class player to emerge (plus maybe Tharanga) Link to comment
ganeshran
Chandimal defintely looks good for them. I dont think he has played in tests yet. The spin department is a worry with most sides able to read Mendis now. Randiv and Herath are decent 2nd spinners but they don't have some one of Murali's stature.. Link to comment
Karan114
Big problem is that the big four batsmen (Sanga, Mahela, Samaraweera and Dilshan) are all 33-34, so will end up retiring at the same time. They need to get Chandimal in, but it will be hard, because they will either play Mathews when fit, or go for five bowlers as they did in this game. I'm not sure how good Chandimal's keeping is at this stage. The bowling is definitely weak. Link to comment
Sidhoni
They have immense amounts of faith in Matthews to carry Sri Lankan cricket on his shoulders, i have heard Russel Arnold, Sanga, Ranatunga said that many a time. Link to comment

At least Sanga said that. Link to comment
Cricket Tragic
The feeling is that Sanga quit because he knew that it would be bloody hard to win tests without Murali. There is also the politics in SL cricket. Link to comment
achilles
But they will haz SLPL :woot: Jokes apart, yeah. Poor domestic structure seems to be the issue. I don't know what the problem is but they just dont seem to produce worldclass players that often. Link to comment
Cricket Tragic
Might be time to get Chandimal in. Shocking collapse. Link to comment

cowboysfan
I hate to be right but this was a ****ed up team selection with 2 trundlers who are not fit for test cricket in there. Link to comment
achilles
Just saw the scorecard. This is kind of thing you quote again and again to their trolls :D Link to comment
Cricket Tragic
Who gives a feck about SL team's condition . We can't afford so many weak test sides. NZ/WI/Pak are already poor. Link to comment
