Re: Sachin Endulkar Same scenario as Bloemfentein '01. India lost their openers before the 15th over and Tendulkar was in almost immediately. On that occasion, he played an excellent counter-attacking innings of 155 - flicking and cutting the ball off the backfoot over the slips. India needs a similar effort from him today - nothing less will do.

Re: Sachin Endulkar OK, so he's out for 44 off 89. He was struggling to cross 20 against Pakistan and England, so in that sense - it's an improvement. He also opened up and played some nice shots - looked positive, although still a bit uncertain. Not good enough, but it could have been much worse. There is still some gas left in the tank. Ironically, he might well remain the top scorer for India in this innings...

Re: Sachin Endulkar uncertain  yeah all the drives through the offside and the cheeky scoop over the slips were uncertain. ever care to take the pitch into consideration? 44 was worth plenty more given the start we got and the pace attack he got through. poor that he got out on 44 so close to the break....there's plenty in Endulkar how much ever ppl wont believe it. he was looking comfortable out there, leaving decidedly, and was much more at ease than even Dravid who is supposedly our only guarantee for runs this series. Dravid has worn at least 3 deliveries. the key as some of the commentators were mentioning was that he was getting far forward. a concerted effort even in the face of any short bowling. i think barry richards mentioned that some might think it is counterproductive as this is SA and you need your backfoot shots, but he noticed SRT and Chappel working on it very hard in the nets, because playing forward first and foremost is the only way to play the moving ball. Anyway i was very impressed by SRT's knock and it looks like a big one is coming up soon. an unpredictable pitch which will definitely get worse as the match wears on. i saw numerous balls fizzing up high off a length, and more still going under the bat. the curator tried some stupid stop-gap measure of putting a wet cloth of hessian (jute) to stop the cracks widening in the sunlight. but that will hold it together today at most, because the sunshine will be back tomorrow and the day after and the day after that. cracks will widen, bounce will get more variable. in other words, any hope we have rests on Kumble. we should get 200-250 and that may well play.

Re: Sachin Endulkar

He looked far more comfortable than Dravid' date=' but of course his low scores are always highlighted more than anyone else, although there probably won't be any beautiful write up about hearts, at least today :lol:[/quote'] That's because Dravid just won us a test series in WI and SRT has only made himself worthy of being in the test team after this innings.
