wonder why Varun AARON only bowled 2 overs in the 1st match in the morning and then din't play in the second match in the afternoon. Hope he is well with his fitness. He has been through some serious injuries already, hope it's nothing serious. Anybody have any news about it ???

South Africa Emerging Players chased down a target of 183 to win a close game against Australian Institute of Sports by five wickets at the WEP Harris Oval in Brisbane, on day one of the Emerging Players Tournament. AIS, who chose to bat, were propelled almost single-handedly by a blitz from Glenn Maxwell. Batting at No. 5, Maxwell hammered 110 off 52 balls with nine fours and eight sixes, to pull his side out of trouble - their top four had managed just 15 runs among them. None of the other batsmen who followed got past 18 either, as AIS finished with 182 for 7. South Africa were steady in reply, with each of their batsmen contributing cameos. The final flourish to push them past the line was provided by Obus Pienaar, who struck 55 off 23 to seal the game with a ball to spare. India Emerging Players began with an 18-run win against New Zealand A, at the same venue. Choosing to bat, India put on 169 for 4, as captain Shikhar Dhawan, S Anirudha and Saurabh Tiwary contributed 30s, while Manoj Tiwary top-scored with an unbeaten 45 that included four sixes. The New Zealand chase was mainly driven by a big partnership between Dean Brownlie and Doug Bracewell. Umesh Yadav got Bracewell for 47, and though Brownlie hung on to finish with 55 not out, the lack of support from the other batsmen handed India a relatively comfortable win.

Australian Institute of Sport beat New Zealand A by 14 runs at Peter Burge Oval in Brisbane to hand them their second defeat in as many games. New Zealand won the toss and had the early ascendancy when Andy McKay removed AIS opener Sam Whiteman for a third-ball duck. Tim Armstrong however ensured AIS did not suffer too much from the early setback, with an unbeaten 74 off 66 balls. He shared in two substantial partnerships for the second and third wickets, with Tom Beaton and captain Ryan Carters respectively, to steer the hosts to a strong score, despite a closing-overs slump. New Zealand's chase ran into early trouble as they lost four cheap wickets, including two to run-outs. Luke Woodcock struck a fighting half-century to keep the chase alive, but Ben Cutting's stifling spell (3 for 15) ensured New Zealand would fall well short. South Africa Emerging Players sneaked to a thrilling four-wicket win against India Emerging Players in a game that ended off the last ball at Fred Kratzman Oval in Brisbane. Asked to bat first, India were propelled by an aggressive 45 off 33 balls from S Anirudha. Ajinkya Rahane contributed a quick 29, but the innings owed a lot to Saurabh Tiwary, whose four sixes in 40 off 32 balls provided the final kick. Mthokozisi Shezi was impressive in picking up 2 for 15 in his four overs. Chasing 157, South Africa stumbled thanks to early strikes by Jaidev Unadkat, but Temba Bavuma reignited the innings with a decisive 57 not out off 31 balls. Obus Pienaar and Mangaliso Mosehle provided just enough support to take their side home off the last ball. New Zealand A bounced back after losses in their first two games, with a 13-run win against South Africa Emerging Players at Peter Burge Oval. Neil Broom anchored New Zealand with 47, while Doug Bracewell and Derek de Boorder contributed scores in the 30s to steer their side to 156. South Africa started off superbly with Richard Levi smashing 74 off 40 balls with five fours and five sixes. Reeza Hendricks supported him well with 32 off 40 balls, but South Africa collapsed spectacularly after their exits. Bracewell was at it with the ball as well, snapping up two wickets for 16 runs in three overs, while Trent Boult picked up 2 for 19, as South Africa finished well short of the target. India Emerging Players wound up the day's action with a six-run win over Australian Institute of Sport at the Fred Kratzman Oval. India chose to bat, and while many of their batsmen got off to starts, there wasn't a single half-century in their innings. Captain Shikhar Dhawan and Ambati Rayudu made 30 apiece, while Saurabh Tiwary launched three sixes in 29 off 14 balls. Manoj Tiwary complemented him with 36 off 23 balls and India were set for a big score, but Ben Cutting stalled them with a series of late strikes that earned him a five-wicket haul. India opened their bowling with left-arm spinner Iqbal Abdulla and his two early wickets pushed the hosts on to the back foot immediately. Glenn Maxwell turned things around with a rousing 59 off 23 balls, which included seven sixes, as Jaidev Unadkat and Bhargav Bhatt suffered. Umesh Yadav managed to end Maxwell's carnage, and Australia's chase lost steam steadily. Vinay Kumar finished with a three-wicket haul to give India their second victory in three games.

India won Emerging players t20 tourney!! A blistering couple of knocks from young Victorian blaster Glenn Maxwell wasn’t enough to propel the Australian Institute of Sport Scholars to the top of the Emerging Players Tournament T20 table as India took out the title. As the T20 component of the 2011 EPT wrapped up yesterday, Maxwell, the recently signed-up Melbourne Renegade, backed up his brilliant century from Tuesday with another quick-fire 59 from just 23 deliveries before falling for a golden duck in the last game, finishing with 169 runs (76 balls) at an average of 84.5. The hosts lost to India by just six runs in morning T20 match; chasing India’s 151 the AIS were all out for 145 with a ball to spare, led by Maxwell’s half century. Ben Cutting was the best of the bowlers, doing plenty of damage in snaring a very tidy 5-17 from his 3.3 overs of pace. In the afternoon match, the scholars defeated New Zealand by 14 runs at Peter Burge Oval. Batting first the hosts made 6-151 thanks for a well-made 74 from 66 balls from Tim Armstrong, including four fours and two sixes. It was Cutting who again did most damage with the ball on his way to figures of 3-15 from four overs, while Sean Abbott also picked up two wickets. It was a close finish for the T20 title with India and South Africa locked on points after the South Africans upset the Indians in their bout yesterday morning, however India’s superior run-rate saw them home.

I dont know why Aaron is not getting any oppurtunity ,he needs to be given games to show his capabilities. And dont know what's with this Vinay Kumar,he picks up wickets in domestic cricket ,bowls well on A-Tours and then looks like an uber trundler in intl. matches.

I think he just knows how to exploit the weakness of poor batsmen.

Interesting POV :hmmm:
This isn't to discredit him and I think if he played Tests, he'd do ok. But I mean, he has a good straight bouncer and bowls the corridor of uncertainty with a bit of bounce. You'll get exponentially more success especially in domestic limited overs, with that, than in ODIs. For an average batsman, what he bowls is probably very difficult whereas the higher level batsmen probably often cope with that sorta thing without much difficulty.
