Sample these... 22.4 Malinga to Astle, OUT, Crash! What a ripper! 147kmph in-swinging delivery takes out Astle. It didn't land anywhere, the projectile hurtled across at a furious pace, Astle had no time to move his feet, just tried to get his bat in line but it was just not pace that he had to tackle. The ball swung in late, evaded the hurried-flail of the blade and crashed into the stumps. Malinga erupts, his colleagues yell in joy, Astle trudges off in disappointment. What a session. Especially the last spell from Malinga. 24.2 Malinga to McCullum, no run, Ripper! Another bouncer, this one made McCullum hop and skip. Reared up at the throat, McCullum hopped up, the ball veered towards him, and he then swayed away. 26.1 Malinga to McCullum, no run, Perfume ball again! McCullum just about manages to sway away from it. 26.4 Malinga to McCullum, 1 leg bye, huge appeal for lbw as Malinga pings McCullum with a yorker. It swung in late and hit the back foot, on the heel. McCullum winces in pain. It's better than no pain and sitting in the hutch. 26.6 Malinga to Sinclair, OUT, Boom! 145 kmph yorker cleans up SInclair! Malinga is on fire. Full, furious, on the off stump line, Sinclair stabs at it in a hurry but is beaten by the pace and the late swing. The furniture is disturbed. Memories of Waqar Younis comes flooding. If not to me, New Zealand, who have suffered in his hands, would be remembering him.

Re: Malinga - fastest and most fearsome bowler in the world? Malinga is on a high and is having one of his faster spells. A good pace bowler but hardly the deadliest. But yeah once a pace bowler finds his antenna with speed over 145 kmph consistently there is not much a batsman can do.

so who is, at the moment in the world? my answer would be a pick between bond and malinga.... and malinga mainly cos he plays without getting injured tht often...

Re: Malinga - fastest and most fearsome bowler in the world? Fastest and most fearsome ? First of all, I don't think you can equate the two. A bowler like McGrath can be just as fearsome as any. Imagine yourself as a batsman facing him - ball after ball landing in that corridor, some nipping away, others coming in. Indecision creeps into your game. Your mind will be all over the place, and you will be content just to see off his spell and limit the damage. THAT is fearsome. Now pace combined with movement can be fearsome, but Malinga hardly ever gets that right, nor do most others. He was sh*t against India in the 3rd test @ Motera, for example. Most fast bowlers tend to be wayward and less effective wicket-takers. Besides, how many fast bowlers do you see today ? Bond is the best but always injured. Then you got Steyn, Sami, Harmison, Mahmood, Edwards, Lee. Notice how ALL of them have records ranging from mediocre to just downright sh*t ? Fearsome my @ss.

Re: Malinga - fastest and most fearsome bowler in the world? there isnt only one kind of fearsome, Predator... Malinga is fast and fearsome... did u see the way, NZers were ducking, weaving, removing their toes out of the way in a hurry... 2000s belongs more to the bore-fest of mcgrath, pollock, hoggard and those kinda bowlers.... Malinga brings back the excitement of the 80s and 90s....

Re: Malinga - fastest and most fearsome bowler in the world? there is nothing wrong about his action... his arm is absolutely straight and he aint the first round-arm bowler.... as long as he delivers above the waist, it is legal..... thanks much for the video, Shails..
