kabira
We got SA all out for 85..alright..same thing could have happened to us, but 1) SA did not bowl well enuf..they did not pitch it up and made indians drive... OR (most likely) 2) The experience, skills and concentration of Dravid and Sachin got us thru the tough period...they were together for more than 18-20 overs...their judgement of leaving the ball was immaculate..And I feel thats where we got ahead of SA.. And here I see people going after Sachin and Dravid... We should be proud of our Big 4..all of them showed application... Link to comment

Sooda
Re: Hats off to Dravid and Sachin too fkin right Kabira man. Weve been slated for being unable to play the moving balll..heck ive done a lot of the slating But theyve proved that they can do it with a bit of application. Top stuff. Real class comes through in the end, the Saffies undone by their own medicine Gotta drive it home now Link to comment
shailesh
Re: Hats off to Dravid and Sachin nice one Kabira..Sachin was calm and hit some priceless boundaries while at the other end Dravid was rock solid, giving nothing. I must point out that most of the balls Dravid faced were from then the 'difficult end' with uneven bounce and he got some painful hits. The runs they scored were worth much more considering the conditions. Link to comment
Predator_05
Re: Hats off to Dravid and Sachin Their 2nd innings performances don't warrant any praise. In that situation, India desperately needed one batsman to get set and bat India into a dominant position; with the remaining batsmen providing support through 20's and 30's. Both of them failed to convert their starts and that certainly complicated India's task of setting a strong target. Although thankfully Laxman is still there. The tailenders and Dhoni are worth at least 50 runs, so the odds are still in India's favour. They (as in Dravid and Tendulkar) could have made easier for us though. Link to comment
veer
Re: Hats off to Dravid and Sachin wohi ch to mai bhi bol riya hooon kabira.. see one month from now, some tom dick and harry will come and say SRT's avg is too low for year and he should retire from test and blah blah.. .. but wont understand how he made those runs and under what circumstances.. 44 runs in this pitch was invaluabe when you see they bundled out in 84.. par saala sunta kaun he.. We are talking about 1st innings..They set up a game for us..with kind of form our batter were...we were looking at another sub 150 score..instead we had 250...100 runs difference..and that would be the difference in the end.. Yea, but you can't hide behind a 28 run average over 10 tests citing difficult pitch, etc when others have been averaging 74 and 46 and 38 on the same set of pitches and conditions. SRT badly need that innings to prove that he still belongs in the test team and I am glad that he did. Link to comment
kabira
Re: Hats off to Dravid and Sachin yoda he is out of form..no question about it.. and nobody is denying it..so why do you bring his last 10 test average.. Link to comment

gator
Re: Hats off to Dravid and Sachin from the batting side, still the maximum praise goes to Saurav.... he added 80-90 runs with the tail, which is more than what SA managed in their whole innings... tht set the game up Link to comment

A lot of players go through bad patch and Tendulkar is going through one as well. At the same time he has consistently scored runs in ODI though if that is any pointer to batting abilities still not deserting him. Link to comment
yoda
Re: Hats off to Dravid and Sachin Didn't know the need to score runs only applies to certain players like VVS and Ganguly. BTW, saying a player needs to prove he belongs in the team means he needs to score some runs NOW. Doesn't mean he needs to be dropped NOW. Anyways, this is not the time to biatch about Indian batting. I only brought it up because someone thought there was a need to take a dig at other posters for their earlier threads. Link to comment
