if Mumbai field a full strength team' date=' it also will be quite a team.[/quote'] Don't think Mumbai has a good team. They have a very brittle attack with no renowned seamer or spinner apart from Zak who isn't available to play even for India. Kulkarni, Abdullah are hardly the ones who will take maximum number of wickets in Ranji and there aren't anyone to support them either.

They mainly bank on their batting with Jaffer, Rahane, Rohit, Marathe, Kukreja, Nayar. Marathe is looks to be a decent WK/batsman. He had scored a half century against Harmison and Flintoff in a warm up ODI in 2008.

Rohit Sharma included in Mumbai Ranji squad More... Rohit Sharma included in Mumbai Ranji squad Wednesday, October 19, 2011 Mumbai: Rohit Sharma, who was out of action after breaking his finger in England in the first one-dayer in early September, has been included in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy opener against Railways to be played in New Delhi next month. "Rohit Sharma has been declared fit to play cricket again. He has been picked for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy opener against Railways (Nov 3-6) and might even play in the third or fourth West Zone T20 tie at Rajkot though he is not a part of the original team," said Mumbai Cricket Association's joint secretary Nitin Dalal. Rohit, after a fruitful outing in the ODI series in the West Indies prior to his short-lived stint in England, would be eager to get back into the groove quickly as a busy international season ahead awaits India team. Mumbai team would be led by Wasim Jaffer with veteran fast bowler Ajit Agarkar as his deputy. It will have only one new face in Nikhil Patil (Jr), who impressed in the off-season Buchi Babu tournament in Chennai. I suppose if Pujara is not fit yet Rohit and Kohli are favourites make the squad for the west Indies tests. Would be interesting if we are bold enough to rotate couple out of sachin Dravid Sehwag and Laxman and give chance to few youngsters before the Aus series
Agree with you! I personally would like to see a bit of a blend of youth and experience blood some of our best youngsters while having the experience there as a safety valve! Remember our quest to regain the number 1 ranking starts against the Windies and if we want to move back up the rankings then we need to beat West Indies very handily indeed.

Ganguly to play for Bengal in Ranji season More... Ganguly to play for Bengal in Ranji season Press Trust of India Thursday, 27 October 2011 Kolkata: On the festive occasion of Diwali, Bengal received a good news when former India skipper Sourav Ganguly gave his nod to be available for the entire Ranji season, as the selectors picked a 16-member side for their first two Super League matches, beginning November 3. Bengal senior selection committee chairman Deep Dasgupta told PTI that Ganguly is quite motivated and keen to play all matches for the state team. Ganguly, who is busy with commentary, has let go of a few upcoming assignments to play for Bengal, Dasgputa said. "It shows how motivated is Ganguly to play this season. He trains regularly to keep himself in shape and will be available for the entire Ranji Trophy, one-day and T20 matches," Dasgupta said. "His presence in the dressing room itself will be a big inspiration for the youngsters. We are looking forward to our first match," the former India Test wicketkeeper said. There was not much surprise in Bengal squad, to be led by Manoj Tiwary with glovesman Wriddhiman Saha as his deputy. Former skipper and allrounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla, bowler Ranadeb Bose will lend experience to the side. Arindam Das, Abhishek Jhunjunwala, Rohan Banerjee and Arindam Ghosh will be Bengal's batting mainstay, while Bose and Ashok Dinda will spearhead the bowling attack. Veteran off-spinner Saurashish Lahiri and leg-spinner Iresh Saxena will be the other bowling ammunition. Struggling in Ranji Trophy in the recent past, Bengal's first aim would be to make the knockout. "Bengal's biggest challenge won't be the opposition. If we play to our potential we can beat any team on a given day. But the biggest challenge would be ourselves -- to play to our potential," Dasgupta said. Coach W V Raman and Tiwary were also present in the selection committee meeting earlier on Wednesday. Bengal will take on Gujarat (November 3-6) at Eden Gardens and Madhya Pradesh (November 17-20) at Jadavpur ground in their first two group B encounters. The Squad Manoj Tiwary ©, Wriddhiman Saha (vc & wk), Sourav Ganguly, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Arindam Das, Rohan Banerjee, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, Arindam Ghosh, Partha Sarathi Bhattacharjee, Ranadeb Bose, Ashok Dinda, Mohammad Sami Ahmed, Saurashish Lahiri, Iresh Saxena, Writam Porel, Anirban Gupta; Stand Byes: Anustup Majumdar, Saurav Sarkar, Arnab Nandy, Dibyendu Chakraborty; Coach: W V Raman
