Chipli, Appanna back in favour for Karnataka Ranji team More... Chipli, Appanna back in favour Bangalore, October 28, DHNS: Middle-order batsman Bharath Chipli and left-arm spinner KP Appanna return to the Karnataka Ranji Trophy squad which has three new faces. The 16-member side, announced here on Friday for the first two matches against Rajasthan (in Udaipur from Nov 3) and Railways (in Delhi from Nov 10), will be led by pace spearhead R Vinay Kumar while Ganesh Satish will be his deputy. The three new players to get the nod from the J Abhiram-led State Senior selection committee are off-spinner K Gowtham, left-arm spinner SK Moinuddin and right-arm paceman SL Akshay. Chipli, who last played a first-class match for the State in 2008 against Tamil Nadu, has been picked ahead of some of the other promising youngsters. Ã…*ooking at his performances in the last one year, we thought Chipli deserved another chance but other youngsters are very much in contention, said committee chairman Abhiram. Appanna too makes a comeback after a gap of two years. The 22-year-oldÃÔ last appearance was in 2009 against Saurashtra at Rajkot. With veteran left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi out of the scheme of things, the Kodava lad will in likelihood be the lead spinner. The squad: R Vinay Kumar (capt), Robin Uthappa, KB Pawan, Manish Pandey, Ganesh Satish (vice-capt), Amit Verma, Stuart Binny, CM Gautam (wk), KP Appanna, Abhimanyu Mithun, S Arvind, Bharath Chipli, SK Moinuddin, Sunil Raju, SL Akshay, Gowtham K. " Saurashtra has a very strong team now " : Debu Mitra More... Debu Mitra, the man who shaped one of IndiaÃÔ finest captain Sourav Ganguly, is all praise for allrounder Ravindra Jadeja Haresh Pandya Posted On Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 02:28:09 AM ëadejaÃÔ best is yet to comeü/B] In Rajkot: There is something about Ravindra Jadeja in his second coming. The youngster showed a degree of maturity especially in his batting that seems to have solved many of Team IndiaÃÔ woes, at least for now. He dazzled everyone with his man-of-the match effort against England at The Oval. At Hyderabad, he first forced the pace of the innings and then returned to give England the reality check with three wickets. At Mohali, the other day, he not only played the perfect supporting act to his skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, he also showed something that was perhaps missing in his earlier avatar maturity. His recent exploits surely impressed many including his Saurashtra Ranji team coach Debu Mitra. Genuine allrounder Talking about the southpaw, Mitra told Ahmedabad Mirror, Å©e is a genuine allrounder and can be an asset to any team. He is so talented that he looks like two-three players rolled into one. Of course, his best is yet to come. The former coach of Sourav Ganguly was convinced that the emergence of various talented players made his team a force to reckon with. ŵhe star presence of Cheteshwar Pujara and (Ravindra) Jadeja has made difference to the teamÃÔ fortune in recent years. What they have achieved at such a young age is quite inspirational for other aspiring young cricketers not just from Saurashtra. Old Warhorses Å°f course, Sitanshu Kotak continues to be a pillar of strength for Saurashtra. Jaydev Shah has been excellent both as a batsman and as captain. The team has won many laurels under his astute captaincy. The arrival of Siddharth Trivedi from Gujarat has only boosted our pace attack, he said. Å´aurashtra has long proved its mettle in the already strong West Zone, where Mumbai was the most dominant team for many years. The team has benefited considerably from the new format of the Ranji Trophy, he said. Squad: Jaydev Shah Aarpit Vasavada Bhushan Chauhan Nayan Doshi Sheldon Jackson Ravindra Jadeja Sagar Jogiyani Shitanshu Kotak Kamlesh Makvana Sandip Maniar Pratik Mehta Jayesh Odedra Chirag Pathak Siddharth Trivedi Jaydev Unadkat

Gujarat has faisal dhudat (aka gujju malinga) and ishwar chawdhary..... pretty decent pace bowling duo. Let's see how they go. Assam doesn't have pritam das to partner abu nechim :nono: Basically most of the upcoming Indian pacers are going to be in action over the next few months. I'm also glad that bcci has initiated an award for the best all-rounder. Hopefully, that encourages a few genuine all-rounders to step up and perform (i don't want the award to go to a batter who can bowl a few off-breaks).
