Nitin Patel likely to be interim physio of team TIMES NEWS NETWORK / Chandresh Narayanan MUMBAI, June 24: London-based Nitin Patel is likely to be named the Indian team's interim physiotherapist on Monday. Senior BCCI officials got in touch with Patel on Saturday and tried to work out details of his engagements with the Indian team. Patel has been asked to be ready to join the team at the earliest. If Patel's appointment does not fructify, then his place will go to long-term India 'A' and Under-19 teams physio Vaibhav Daga. Pune-born Daga has been put on standby by the board. Patel's appointment has been necessitated because of the injury suffered by current physio John Gloster, who tripped on the boundary line and fractured his right hand during India's training sessions. Gloster will require surgery and is likely to be out of action for at least two months. Patel, it is learnt, has spoken to Gloster and tried to 'understand' the nature of his job as well as the duration for which he will be required to stand-in. Indian skipper Rahul Dravid also had a word with Patel on Sunday. However, an official announcement about Patel's appointment has been put on hold because the Baroda-bred physio is also attached to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) academy. "e will need to take holidays. Also, he has to work out other details," said a senior official. Link to comment
King
Why would Mr.Patel take off from his job and assist Indian team? I hope he is not yet another honorary fill in like the rest of the BCCI care takers. Link to comment
