1983-2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 Mumbai: NDTV has learnt that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has finally concluded that the nine Muslim men who were arrested and jailed in 2006 in connection with the Malegaon blasts are innocent. Five years ago, these men were accused of carrying out the twin blasts as part of a plot by the outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). But sources have told NDTV that the investigation agency will now not oppose their bail pleas when they come up in court. Thirty one people were killed and 312 were injured in the 2006 blasts. NDTV has also found that in a U-turn from its previous stand, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted an internal report to the NIA saying only the right-wing Hindutva group activists arrested last year should be probed for the blast. In 2009, the CBI toed the Maharashtra ATS line and chargesheeted the nine Muslim men. The agency retracted in 2010, when Swami Aseemanand confessed that the blasts were the handiwork of a Hindutva group. As a result of this error in the terror probe, these nine innocent men had to spend five years in prison. The Hindutva group, on the other hand, has not even been named in this case. Tomorrow, they can change the news again stating "sources". and yes ,the above news is good food for politicians for any kind kind of elections . seedhi Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 the news maybe good for the politicians but what about these nine men who were behind bars for 5 years for nothing if they were wrongly locked up? when will the real preparators be caught and brought to justice? and what about the victims of the malegaon bombings? if they are freed because the NIA/cib made an error then they have got lot of questions to answer!!By and large all the wrongful arrest cases have occurred in states ruled by the Congress -- in Malegaon 2006 blasts, and Mecca Masjid blast of 2007 in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh respectively. Even the Communal bill is one plan for UP 2012..or else why it suddenly came when there are no communal incidents happening in recent times while there are Major issues like Terrorism and Corruption plaguing this country.. may be diggi raja will provide us more details about this.. as for as your post regarding who is responsible for these peoples lost 9 years in jail and harassment..do you think this is the first of such incidents happening in this country?
